i found this today......i think i'm gonna buy it.......it's the precursor to the suzuki samuri. it has a 2 cylinder 2stroke engine.

i don't know much except that it's sometime from the 70's and the were not sold in the usa...... my landlord scored it in peru when he was a teenager.

Looks like it would be fun to play with. Can you register something like that in the US? 8)

I believe they were called an L80, or something along those lines. I do not believe they were ever imported to the US, however you may check some Canadian sources as I think may have imported them to Canada, and some parts may be availible. As for engine parts, you may look for replacement parts for older Suzuki road bikes and such, and the engine may have been used in some snowmobiles...that might be a place to look too. Otherwise, I'd look to do a swap. Even a LUV engine in one of those little critters would work well.
The only reason I know anything about them is because a guy entered one in Four Wheelers Top Truck Challenge a couple years back, and I believe he was Canadian, thats why I'm thinking they have imported them up north. The guy didnt get voted in to compete, so there wasnt much more than very basic info on the machine. It is a very cool, rare find though...hang on to it if you can. Cool!

Copy and paste these links...they provide some information. Its difficult to discerne which exact model you have, but it's probably an LJ80. From the little research I did, it looks as though they may have been imported to the US, but almost certainly to Australia. Have fun! I'm envious!

I think that engine looks like the one on my Banshee. I would put a small block in the Suzuki, not a fourwheeler motor.

Adem,
Yeah, can you believe it?! I dont remember exactly what year the issue was, but it was after '97, I'm sure of that. I think it was between 99 and 2001...somewhere in there. Like I said, it wasnt actually voted in to participate in TTC, but the guy did make the top 60 or 70 in the issue where the readers get to vote on who gets in to the competition. It wouldnt be so bad, but the thing was damn near stock. If it were built it'd probably be a very competitive rig, but not stock!

It won't be a Canadian import due to the 2 stroke engine ban many years ago. It forbid any two stroke motor (motorcycle or car) from the roads. The only way I can see them importing them were if they were classified as an "all-terrain vehicle". I think that two stroke engine is what would keep you off the road. If you swapped it out for a 4 stroke, and got it passed emmisions and safety and all those tests you guys have down there, you might just be rolling on the road! :D

The one in Four Wheeler was definitely from Canada, but I believe it had a little inline 4 cylinder engine (4-stroke)

Where abouts are you in Montana Warhorse? I'm about 3 hours north of the US/Canada border.
