Hi all!
Im new to the whole Chevy Luv thing but I love them...Part of the reason is because its a chevrolet....Ofcourse origionally Isuzu cars, but its a chev which is good enough for me.
Its weird that I like these cars as Im deticated to Classic Ford Mustangs, I work at a mustang shop here in Melbourne, Austalia. and I have a 67 Ford Mustang myself, but I feel I need a chevy pick-up, and the Luv is something that I can afford!
I have found a 74 Luv for sale...$100, not running, motor is stuffed, abit rusty, aluminium tray, very complete, very origional.
The car is 1500km away from me which doesnt really bother me...I am probably going to buy the car sometime mid Jan.
Heres my plans:
-Buy the car, bring it back home
-Strip EVERYTHING down to bare chassis
-take the old motor out
-Rust repair
-put a 350/327 motor in it
-extend the rear frame rails so I could put a 90's Chevy 1500/silverado dualley tray on the back.
-Put the tray on back
-Put dualleys on
-Customize intirior
-Paint it red
-Give it a 8-10i lift

This is just an Idea...I dont know if it will work...

I think I have completely lost the plot, and I should stick to Mustangs....anybody here done the same thing/similar?
Ive seen the Luv's with the dualleys on the back on here, and with the big guards on their trays, but the tray's they have are not big enought for me...Thats why I want to get the 1500/silverado tray and put it on the back...plus I love the look of a 1500/silverado rear!

Sorry if I offended anybody here!

What is a "tray" in Oz? A steel flatbed? If you mean what we refer to as the stock "bed", then I'm confused. A 1500 bed is much too wide for a LUV, I would think. Are you planning on narrowing it, or am I just missing something?

Otherwise it sounds like a good plan. Welcome to the site! :D

aussieluv,
It seems like you have yourself a big but thought out plan. As you can see from this site, everyone has thier own ideas for thier truck. Everything from factory original to a model A body or studebaker truck body on a luv chassis. So i say get the truck and have fun with it. Oh and welcome aboard

When putting a 350chevy in it, is there any modifications done to the engine bay? if so, what? Shock towers, firewall, radiator support, etc.
Thanks for the help!

first of all, you can do anything you want with enough time and money. now, you can section the bed in the middle to take care of the width problem, but now you still have the height problem. also, the body lines won't match. good luck in your quest. welcome to the site!
