Well, today i went to look at a 1980 4x4 Luv. I talked to the guy who was selling it for a while and after i had looked it over and got into the engine and checked things over, I was ready for a test drive. I got the key and started her up, i took off down the road and noticed i could only go like 35 mph in 4th gear. I new somethin was up, so i pulled over and found that the guy had the truck in 4x4 low. I took it out and continued on my way, i had gone far enough and had turned around heading back to the owners home. I stopped at a stop sign about 300 yards from the house and i went to go and the truck wouldn't go. I pushed the clutch in and checked what gear was in and checked to see if i had popped out of 2wd. I tried a few more times and by this time there were about five cars behind me. Luckily i had a friend with me and we pushed it off the road and ran to the guys house and got him. I had to help him tow it back his house, with his 62 chevy with a 454. i was in the luv steering and it put me back in my seat! When we got back he had a quick look and said he didn't know what could be the problem. By the time we were done a storm had rolled in and was pouring rain. I said a quick apology and booked it for my car.

I feel really bad that i was unable to properly introduce myself and that i put the first luv i have ever driven out of comission. I think i will go back tomorrow and Shake his hand and apologize, make sure things are smooth.

Well i just thought i would share my LUV experience.

yup and t-case is integrated w transmission .which means you would be changing them both. If you are mechanically inclined then just bicker him down $200 to $300 less because thats what it will cost to fix w YOUR own labor.BUT....bear in mind, if he had this thing in 4x4 but on street he knew what he was hiding there. WHAT ELSE has he hid is the $64.00 question?

Know i what i mean 8)
