well i finally did it. i broke down and bought a weber. the hitachi was having more issues, (i got back into it again this weekend and found one of the jets cracked and the anti-dieseling solenoid was not working properly) so i ordered a weber. the 32/36dgev kit. i hope this finally solves all of my fuel issues. i read a post about someone getting too much fuel pressure from the stock replacement pump from a parts store. anyone else experienced this problem? :?:

As long as you continue to utilize the return line in the fuel system, you should not have an overpressure problem. Unless you have gone crazy with oversized fuel lines throughout the entire system. I've gone thru 3 electric fuel pumps in the last 20+ years without this problem. Look into the intake riser we talked about. Go ahead and run with the redline adapter for now. You'll see the flaw im talking about.

I noticed the problem after a few weeks of running the weber. If i held the carb open at full throttle, it didn't run as strong as 3/4 throttle. I talked to Woody at Motoring Parts/Motoring specialists in Vacaville Ca. He knew exactly what i was talking about. He recomended the riser. I dont know who makes it but im thinking redline would have some info on this. They may have this part but its not part of the kit. I had the redline air cleaner assy and with the riser there was no clearance problem. Im thinking it was a 2" tall riser but im not sure. I bought my weber carb setup from a performance store in Sacramento Ca. It was a supermarket that was converted to a Parts store. I cant remember the name of it but it was full of performance parts! Woody hooked me up with the riser even though i didn't buy my carb from him. I always went to woody of parts after that. I think Woody is still there so you might call him and ask about the riser.

Im always around. If i got a question or i can help somebody, thats when i surface. But i go thru the forum everyday. I have no good reason to respond to 4x4 questions and such because i know next to nothing about them. I only try to offer help where im reasonably sure of what im talking about. I'd hate to guess at something and feed bad info that can cause even more of a problem.

Well i burned up some minutes on the cell phone and got some info. I called Motoring specialist, Woody was busy but i got the information The company they referred me to is Pierce Manifolds / 408-842-6667(http://www.piercemanifolds.com) They sell an adapter that works. It isn't a soild 1 piece like i had. Its a 2 piece plate setup that will do the same job. Its a shorter assy than what i had so hood clearance is definitly not a problem. Go to the website and search by part #99004.333 (they have a good photo of it) The cost is 37.50 + shipping. Maybe the weber kit will have this kind of adapter. But in either case, for this type of adapter to work at its best, the intake manifold needs to be worked open to the oval to match
