I am wondering what years LUV's had AC and did any of them have power steering ? What are the differences in the Mikado models ? I just won the red '79 Mikado 4x4 on eBay with the buckets, so am wondering what to expect when I get it ? I am curious to see how the feel is with buckets. It seems most people want buckets. I think the bench seat in my '80 is just fine. I guess I will find out. Thanks for any info.

A bench seat is fine in my opinion, but when you are gettin side ways around a corner, smokin off your tires, then a bucket helps hold you in place a little better. I am in the process of my v8 swap, and have put in buckets and it does look a little more racey with them. my .02 :D

I think I can probably agree with ya on that. Definitely would hold you in better and look more sporty.

Also besides my other questions, here is one more to add: Is the "lights" emblem supposed to light up when lights are on like the wipe/wash and heater controls ?

mine doesn't, but there isn't a light behind it. same thing with the wipe/wash.
you could hook some up though, just get another socket like the one for your wipers and wire it in. should be pretty easy.

Thanks. Yeah, I kinda figured there must not be a light there. Just seems weird that there isn't one there, but there is everywhere else. My little blue high beam indicator works just fine.

Well, got the truck last week, drove it home 2 1/2 hrs, hit 75 on the
interstate :) it runs great ! Been driving it all week. I believe the buckets are factory, and I think it had AC at one time, but was removed. Seems like the passenger side rear tire is wanting to lock up when I have to use the brakes hard. Could it be the e-brake locking up ?

i had a similar problem with my front disc brakes. once you hit the brakes, they would stay on. i guess there isnt any return spring or anything on the hydraulic piston, so i took some spacing shims out of the front calipers. i also flushed and re filled the brake lines, which would probably help in your case... i had a ton of crap in there, and it prevents the caliper or drum from receding after being pushed.

i drove my luv back from cali at about 75 mph, it was pretty scary 8O the wheelbase is so short everytime you hit a crack in the road the truck lurches to the right or left. also mine pulls the the right a little

Thanks for the info, I will have the brake fluid checked out. It doesn't seem to do it all the time. Drove it tonight and brakes were fine. Yeah, 75 on the interstate hitting the cracks in the road made the crappy factory AM radio in mine buzz with every bump. Have the old Sony pull out cassette deck in for the time being until I get an mp3 player.
