I have an offer to purchase two chevy Luv trucks. Both are sitting, and in need of some repair. Both are said to be running. One has a busted chassy (obviously not good) and it is a 1980. I particularly like the 1976 truck better, although I was told the engine from the first is in better shape. This is the first place I have gone to, with a VIN number lookup minimized behind this window as I type. Both trucks apear in good shape for thier ages, but I know nothing of Luv Trucks.

SO, my question is as follows..... are these trucks expensive to maintain/fix as an everyday car. I don't care about 4x4 or 78" Mickey Thompson super swampers or anything else. Just a nice little truck that runs well, and doesn't suck up more gas than one could afford at 2$/gal. I know a little about bugs, and know they are dirt chep to rebuild to stock/lightly modified, but an Izuzu engine is not as simple. Both have 4 cyl engines, and I have only performed a short visual inspection of both. I want to fix the 76 (using parts of the 80 truck as well as new parts) to drive and either sell or parse out the 80.

What signs etc... should I look for (in particular)? And are many people interested in parts for a 1980????

Thank you for your time, and I can't wait to hear from ya'll soon!!!!!

Depending on where you live, rust will be definitely some that will need to be looked for. Some have trouble with the stock carb as well.
It will be a good idea to get both and make one from them.
