grrrrr

so, some of you may remember my vin # search on my luv, and well I never found it. Well after reading that you can take a vin from another luv and put it on another and smooth it out, well that seems like the only explaination. I mean I've searched this truck through and through, and have come up with nothing.

so that sucks.

my b/f's dad said I could file a bond or something with the state, but that for 5 years if anyone saw it and claimed it was theirs, and could prove it, they would get the truck and everything I've done to it 'cause I did stuff to it knowing there was a possibility of another owner.

so.....I guess what I need is a free or super cheap parts truck or something someone's got sitting around with a title. Then I can put my new bed on it, and the tilt front end, and just keep the cab that comes with whatever new truck I get.

So if anyone has a truck with the frame, cab, and title, I'm the buyer for you!

My b/f's dad is being really generous and is offering to buy me a new truck (since I wanna enter that low buck challenge contest), so someone please help me out.

I'm kinda bummed out....but it's ok I'll find a way to make it work. For now I'm just gathering parts while searching for a new truck. I'm getting a new bed, got my engine, tranny, and driveline sitting around, a mustang II front suspension, and paint job lined up, but there's lots more to buy so I'll just try and keep myself occupied. Just keep your eyes out, everyone.

Thanks, Jess

talk to dmv about a lien sale......you basicly say this truck is on your property ,dmv searches for a previous owner to contact about moving it or losing it,if they don't find one(owner) you have to take an ad out in the public notice section of your local paper for two weeks(in cali....was may be longer or shorter ) stating move it or lose it. after the time is up dmv gives you a new title and it's yours.

this is how tow companys keep cars and re-sell them.

speak w/ someone that works for a Small Local tow company and they could give you a more detailed plan of action(or do the lein sale for a you for a fee).

Good luck

You can always go to the DMV with the VIN and say that it was dumped in your yard six months ago and now you have to do something with it or get rid of it cause it goes against the restrictive covenants of your neighborhood.

Then tell them that you would like to keep it since it is an antique and what the process is in filing for an abandoned vehicle.

Jess, how did you go about trying to do a title search ? I wanted to do one but it said on Carfax that I could not do one for a vehical previous to 1981 ? If there is a way to get a title search done on my 1980's then where would I go ? Any info would be appreciated. Good luck with the title Jess.

well at one point I had thought I'd found a VIN number, and so I went to CarFax as well, but yeah I also found out that they don't do vehicles previous to 81. Well turns out the # I found wasn't a VIN, it was something else, I dunno what, but anywho...

If I could find a vin #, I think you can take the truck to the state patrol (I believe you have to make an appt, or you could just call and talk to them about it) and I am pretty sure they can do a search. That is what I am told, anyways.

Jess, on the drivers side. Take the windshield valance off, and sand out the area on the drivers side about where the farthest screw is... It is possible that the vin was painted over...... Also, I knew a couple guys that moved their vin tags on their suicide doors to the bottom of the door.... If you cant find anything else, I can send you a vin tag and title off of wicked's 79 cab and maybe if you ask nicely, I will cut out the stamped vin also *If I can find some way to cut it*....
