I'm looking forward to it too! I been working on my truck all week. LOL! I haven't spent this much time on it in years. It shows too. That thing is hammered. :D

Hey gang, Ben emailed me this morning about photo shooting at the event. If any of you have any friends that know how to work a camera bring em with you if you can. Ben may need to have a couple extra people designated as camera people to take shots of the trucks, and action. Ben is trying to bring out a digital camera, and a video camera to capture the event. Also I think Michael you mentioned you know some track personnel, would they be willing to let the designated camera people get up close to the line to capture the action? Thanks

I'm towing Ben's truck out there, so I will be on camera duty. I've got a digital camera, and a standard hi-8 video I will bring. The digi uses floppys so getting sent to whomever wants em will be a piece of cake.

You da man! Do you have a way to stream the video to mpeg format? Not that we will post the entire video, but at least digitize it so we can post some small clips if we can. If needed I have the stuff here to capture to digital video, but I am not sure if your hi-8 video will work in my sony 8mm camera?

The hi 8 tapes wont run in a standard 8mm camera, dont know why. My digi camera can take short mpeg videos, 15 secons i think. Plenty of time to tape a run, but not enough to get the burnouts as well :( I'll have to play with the camera a bit tomorrow to get the process figured out.

Wow Phil, it sounds like you're well armed to capture the action! I don't know if you'll have enough hands, but if you do capture some good video on the hi8, I can try and borrow a firewire video capture device, it's an intel camera, that has and rca feed, so just let me know before friday afternoon if I should bring it to Ben. Thanks for your help man!

Plan oin trying to bring that capture device. That way I can at least take some burnout/runs together to get to you. Ben will need to chime in here and say if it is something he can use on his computer though. Not sure if he is set up for firewire or not.

We ended up not using the video camera. It seemed simpler to just take short mpg movies with the digital camera. They turned out OK I think. The video camera would have gotten better footage and been smoother but would have taken more effort to transfer to a downloadable format.
