my goal is to work on this thing every weekend (more often once I get home from school) so if I make posts in here about what I'm planning, that'll make me go out and do it....hope you know what I mean....

I thought I might give a little pre-weekend update...

*tear out the current ugly 80s something or another dash and smash it to bits. then create a mock-up out of card board of what I want my new dash to look like. maybe I'll post pics and get opinions, I want it to be cool. 8)

*sand and primer the outside. I'm thinking this is going to have to wait til I'm home for summer, but I just wanna get going.....

*I have an idea about a rear end and also changing the front to 5 lug (haha met a fellow luv owner last weekend at a car show, and we got to talking....) gonna check those out and let you all know if it works out..... *evil grin* 8) *suspense*!!! haha

bye all

cool sounds good 8)
i've been working on mine alot lately too. the only thing thats sucks is i only get the weekend to work on her :(
when it comes to primering if you have to use spray cans i HIGHLY suggest to go to walmart and pick up a plastic trigger for the can. you'll lose feeling in your finger by the time your done  concentrate on one area with light coats then go back once that dries and put a thicker coat on next.

sorry that i didn't get a chance to reply to your pm. been busy all week. i got the grill off ebay like 2 years ago :? i don't think you can buy one that looks like it. i think it was custom made. if you really search for them on the net you can find them. they come in 2 different styles. square tubing thats straight or round tubing thats straight . my round tubing is bending down at a angle. i haven't seen anyone else with this.

haha yeah I sprayed my tool box purple (it was red...ewww) and just doing that killed my finger. lol. poor me.

well we didn't get to sanding and primering this weekend, but I hadn't really planned on it. Next weekend, definitely.

We did, however, get the old dash taken out (it was held in by two bolts) and guess what?! part of the old luv dash was under it! haha! but I completely forgot to take pics, I'll be sure to do that Tuesday (finally home from school that day)

a guy from down the street who thinks he's so cool also stopped by to admire the luv. 8) that's right.

and I got a job for this summer, painting houses. I'm the foreman, woo! I like being in charge. 35-40 hrs a week, $9 an hour, fri, sat, and sun off. I am also eligible for bonuses and raises, plus at the end of the summer I get 50 cents for each hour I worked, and if the homeowner likes the job, we each get an extra $1 per hour we worked. If we finish a job early, we still get paid for the time it was expected to take. I'm told that towards the end of the summer, crews are finishing 30 hrs early, that's $270 for doing nothing. I'm pretty happy, working outside is going to be great. so I figure I'll make somewhere between $3,780 - $4,320, plus bonuses and raises, which I think is more than enough for the luv. although my mom says I have to save half for school, but we'll see how that works out. 8)

no I didn't smash it to bits....I should have though! I think I figured out what it was though, see, my neighbor has one of the most recent luvs, with the different body style, and its dash looks almost identical to the one mine had in it. And that would explain why it was such a good fit!

yeah I've looked into buying an old dash, but not only is mine going to look better, it's going to be new, custom, different, and not falling to bits. lol It hasn't been too hard so far, although all we've done is take out the old one and make a mock up of the new one (see my other post, I think it's this should work: !http://forums.luvtruck.com/viewtopic.php?t=4768 anyways it's under "general", too

anyways, welcome
