I guess the wiring was in far worse condition than I thought it was... The guy I got the cab from really tweeked with the wires and now I can't get the damned thing to straighten out...... I can get the headlights (3 of em,one is busted... oops 8) ) to work, and the parking lights to work. I cannot get the blinkers, hazards, horn, interior, brake, dash, reverse or any other electronic stuff to work........ Has anyone that has done the v8 swap ever just started chopping wires and start from scratch???? If so, whats needed, whats not..... I tried to do it, but couldnt trace the wires enough to know what went to what, and what was to go in the wire box..... So if anyone has a couple pointers, please feel free to tell me what to do...... I can get the truck runnin and drivin, but there are too many cops around to not have blinkers and brake lights.....

Does it have the stock fuse block in it? If so, i'd check that first. That has to be the weakest link to the trucks wiring. I wouldn't start hacking away the wiring to fit a V-8 until you get a solid system to work with. Once you get it sorted out, you can modify it from there. Did you connect the harness that goes to the rear of the truck? Is the connector plugged in at the dash?

if the wiring is chopped really bad you might want to consider something after market like a painless wiring harness. there not cheap but it would be better than terminal melt down and have the truck end up in flames.

Well the thing is, i had the turns and all that stuff that isnt working now working, but the heads and tails wouldnt, then i got pissed off and took a break and i guess when i got out of the truck i nudged one of the wires and after that i couldnt get em to work, but now i have the headlights and taillights working but cant get anything else to work. i can wire it to run, but cant get it street legal due to the lights... i dont have a fuse box cover for the big one, so i dont know whats what. i dont even have access to a wiring diagram, and i tried to load the ones in the info section, but my comp wouldnt accept the format it was in.....

Terminal meltdown...... eh...... close enough..... but it was for the better actually, now i get high and low beam, tail lights, hazards, horn, and brake lights, now i just gotta figure out the turns....... the couple of wires that bured up were parts of the harness that arent used..... oh, and i cant get them damned wipers to work, granted they worked when they wanted to before..... when i get enough $$$$ i will get a painless kit, just cause it will look better..... or i might just start chopping sections out and then putting tape on the breaks so i know what goes where then just take some of the wire i have in my shop and make a custom harness.... but who woulda known that having wires catch on fire could be a good thing.....

Wiring turned out not too shabby for a kid just gathering used wire together to make a system of wires.... I got brakes, hazards, heads (L & H), parking, and interior lights, but cant get the turns to work..... Also for some reason I messed it up pretty bad and the headlights are adjusted from H to L on the pull switch for the lights (pull once and get lows, twice and get highs, leave it pushed in and get parking lights, but only when the ign is on.... )...
