hey guys, im getting real close to painting my truck. i have enough money now, i just need to decide where to do it. seems like the only place i can get much info on is maaco... i've heard alot of bad stuff about them though. are they really that bad? im willing to spend around $600-800, if that will get me paint that will last,(is that enough?) especially since im painting it red. anyone have any problems with maaco? also, any suggestions as to where to paint my truck if you know of a better place would be helpful, i live about 15 miles south of seattle. thanks

why don't you search around a little more? there's gotta be someone in your area that does decent paint jobs for a reasonable price. I mean, not a big company, a smaller business.

dont forget to look around at like trade schools. alot of times a little talkin to the teacher and you can get a decent paint job for next to nothing. granted you will be turning a bunch of kids (no offense to our younger members  ) loose w/ your ride.....but hey thats the gamble.

I think Larp has a great idea!!! Plus there is no way they could do worse than Maaco!!! The jobs I have seen from them, they painted over dirt and rust, didnt tape the window trim worth a crap getting paint on the trim and overspray everywhere. Too bad you werent closer, I would luv to do it for ya! 8)

The trade school I went to would paint for the price of materials. I saw some good looking cars come out of there. I also saw some bad ones, not so many that I wouldn't let them do mine.

Also I just thought of something else....if there is a state prison near you, you might check w them because alot of them have auto body school/shop and it would cost you next to nothing if anything to have it done there 8) :D

I think I would remove the coil or something to keep it from running before I left it :!:

its HARD to find anyone you can trust......its so sad..nobody cares /people steal shit off your vehicles/trade parts.......i've painted a long time but only for people i know ,sort of a family thing......some trade school guys have the knack/some mind you...if you can keep their mind straight.stay away from MAACO......painting is 75 percent prep work.....if the body aint straight before you paint it.its not gonna get any straighter with new paint..also a rough body or semi rough body always needs pastel colors, they will not show all the imperfections in the body as darker ones.good luck. and honestly you get nothing for 800/1000 dollars.....btw.......
