Recently I've gotten email from "staff@luvtruck.com" claming to be important info. This email was NOT sent by myself or my "staff". The attachment is a virus! If any of you receive email from luvtruck.com that looks questionable or contains an attachment, do not open it. This is simply the latest scam by those scum of the earth virus creators to spread their filth. I will always sign my emails at the bottom like this:

Ben Cordasco
LUVTruck.com

This is the body of the email I got:
Quote:
"Dear user of Luvtruck.com e-mail server gateway,

Our main mailing server will be temporary unavaible for next two days,
to continue receiving mail in these days you have to configure our free
auto-forwarding service.

Pay attention on attached file.

In order to read the attach you have to use the following password:

Cheers,
The Luvtruck.com team http://www.luvtruck.com

Again, this was not sent by myself or anyone at LUVTruck.com. If you get any email like this, do not open the attachment or click on any links in the email.

I love it. Just got this email from "staff@luvtruck.com"
Quote:
Dear user, the management of Luvtruck.com mailing system wants to let you know that,

Our antivirus software has detected a large ammount of viruses outgoing
from your email account, you may use our free anti-virus tool to clean up
your computer software.

Further details can be obtained from attached file.

In order to read the attach you have to use the following password:

Cheers,
The Luvtruck.com team http://www.luvtruck.com

Like I said, we have not sent these emails out. They are bogus and the attachment "anti-virus tool" is a virus.

My problem is that people call you wanting to know why you sent the email in the first place. Unfortunately you can't convince an idiot that it was spoofed.

8-)

I hate the hassle it creates, but as a consultant I look at it as job security. Most people don't keep up on the latest virus releases, so 5 mins of reading every day and I can be a well paid expert. ;) Too bad no one has much money to pay me to fix their stuff these days.

If you do you have a niche!!!

I agree. They simply believe that they don't need to take the five minutes a day to do it, they believe that it can be done with someone else.

As a Systems Analyst, I see people every day going "Duh, Windows update says that there is a critical update, should I let it install it." or "Duh, if I install a patch, will I have to re-install the operating system."

Almost makes me wonder how they missed the turnip truck all together.

Ditto.

You would think that after what 10 years since Windows95 was a twinkle that idiots would get the hint.

I guess they teach the ten ways to act dumb.

We have people who do human factors testing who have no idea how to turn on a PC. If that is the case, why the hell are they here?

Speaking of which, someone *just* walked through the door and said:

"My mouse just died. I can move up and down and not left and right." I said flip it over, pop out the ball, clean the guts, wipe off the ball and you should be good and I got the "blank as a sheet of paper look".

When I was working as an IT admin at a tech company, I was always cleaning people's mice. They'd call me with some problem that required me to go to them, first thing I would do is clean the mouse. At that point, I knew I could always leave them happier even if I didn't fix the problem they called about. "Wow, I still can't print but who cares, my mouse works awesome now!"

Its just like cars. Some people are content to not even know where or how to check their oil.
