might be able to work it if you cannibalize the steering box and the rest of the guts from a later isuzu p'up...i believe some had power steering

I have pondered this before. I get kinda of tired of Armstrong steering, especially when your stopped and have to do a lock to lock turn. Almost think I should start going to the gym again jsut so i can drive my LUV.

I have a power steering setup off my old '74 Chevy pickup, and i did some measuring and from what i can see I think it might fit. Very tight, but not anymore so then the SBC thats in there. Has anybody every used a similar set-up like this, or does everybody use power steering systems out of troopers and other Isuzu's?? Or would this set-up i have even work with the LUV front end...hmm i never really thought of that.... :?

Luv trucks are so light that power steering is not needed most of the time. If you are muddin a lot with big tires your arms are probably all over the place. There might be something else going on if it's that hard to steer. My Luv with the V8 and increased weight was not hard to steer at all. I also see a lot of these guys on this site going to smaller wheels when they add buckets, or just because they feel that the stock wheel is just too big. You might want to have your truck steering checked out.

nah just live whithb it for a while, i have huge fore arms from off roading my LUV
I was just at the wrecking yard today and saw an Isuzu pup the same body style as the 81-82 LUVs (i think its the 81-85 body style). But anyway it had power steering and was identical in appearnce as my troopers. Only plroblem i could see is mountint the pump, but you could just modify the LUV A/C braket for that i think. If you pull the system just bee shure to get the hard line that runs along the frame below the radiator Ithe pumps are mounted on passenger side and the resiviour is on the driver side fender).
