since my 80 luv smokes and fouls out plugs, i've decided to pull the 1.9 motor out of the 85 pup and put in the luv. today i pulled the motor and tranny out of the pup. i'm eventually gonna junk the pup so i decided to pull the tranny too. i started striping everything off the motor i don't need. (smog pump, ac compressor, transmission). tommarow i'll finish striping it down then pull the 1.8 motor out. i thought i'd have to use the points distributer out of the 80, cause the pup didn't have an ignitor on top of the coil so i assumed it had a computer that controlled it. (the pup also had a check engine light and an oxygen sensor, signs of a computer). after i traced wires down, the ignitor is built into the distributer. the only wire you have to hook up to the coil is the hot wire. everything else is contained in the distributer. so i found an easy electronic ignition swap for a luv. i ran across this same distributer on ebay yesterday while i was looking for parts. so if anyone is interested in doing an electronic ignition swap here is the link. if anyone is interested in doing this i can look and see what wires go where. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33690

There is a poop sheet on doing the swap in the information section. You might look at that one since there is an ignitor in the bone yard where I live and I plan on taking the ignitor out and putting it in my 75 and swapping the distributor.

i figured it out, this distributer has the igniter built in, all you have to do is hook up the distruibuter wires to the coil and a hot wire to the coil. and thats it.
