i finally got my luv running tonight. took me 4 weeks from start to finish.feels great to sit in the seat again.it's just in perfect time cause the snow started to fall tonight.had a couple of problems putting her back together.first,me and my dad got it all back together and started to put the radiator back in,started to put the hoses back on and noticed i had a crack right down the middle of the bottom hose adapter(welded it today).the other thing i almost had a heart attack from.we started her up and she sounded great, until she died out of nowhere.she wouldn't start back up.we took off the valve cover and my timing wheels were turning but not my cam.come to find out the pin that holds the wheel in one position to the cam had slipped out of the hole in the cam.very very big relief.as we were knoking the pin back in with a screw. we dropped the screw into the timing cover.i've never been so pissed in my whole life after some thinking and some finding we found the screw halfway down the front of the block.eventually we found a magnet that would fit in there an grabbed the screw.good ol magnet saved me another 4 weeks.i do have a question for all you guys.what does the temp. tach attach to read the temp.mine is not working and can't find where it leads to??? as all you can see i've had one hell of a time and i have to say if anything goes wrong with that engine it WILL not go back in.i'm not tryin to be racist but them japs must have some very small hands to get to some of the bolts i came along.i actually got my fingers stuck under neath the manifold trying to get some of the bolts out.i'm sticking with american engines for now on.

Glad to hear you got it running man! Your right that is a big scare. Yikes! In some motors that would have bent a few valves so hopefully yours is OK.

It's been so long since I had my 4cyl that I don't remember where the wire goes, so hopefully someone else can help you with that answer.

Hmmmmm :? I think there should be a sensor on the front of the engine. I believe it's on the upper right side. I believe thatr should be your Temp. sensor. But dont quote me on it until I look at mine this afternoon. I still have my 4 banger in her. Hope that helps a little.

Want to have some fun with your four banger. Some friend of mine got ahold lof an older mail jeep with an inline 4, just like in a luv. They bought a cheap N20 kit. They went thru about four bottles. it was a 4x4. Theyblew the tranfer case to pieces. it got rubber in three gears.
they dumped the N20 kit, replaced the T case and ran it on the trails for a year or so. i dont suggest this, but was forced to post it for some sick reason.

my temp control wire hooks up underneath the intake on the front next to the block. my wire is a plastic covered spade terminal and just clips on the nipple of the temp sensor. hope this helps :D

it's been red, primer gray, and now black.it was red when i first got her with orange and yellow decals.the decals were hell to get off.i had to bolt a putty knife to a heat gun and scrap them off(it took me close to 3 weeks to get them off and the glue).then it was the primer gray for about a year and a half (8 coats of primer and 7 hand sands).then i just got tired of the primer so i threw some black on top.i'm kinda glad i did that cause the cops don't follow me anymore.when it was primer i was getting stopped 3 or 4 times a week for nothing :fist: .i guess they don't recanize me anymore.
