I bought my LUV a couple months back from auction and I’ve been trying to find the correct VIN number. On the door it has a number starting with LUV. On the body there’s another number that started with CRN. They are both different numbers and I’m trying to get the title. Any ideas on what number is correct or where to find the right one.

What model year is it (if you know)?

I'm pretty sure the VIN should begin with "JAA..."

All I know from the auction is that it’s a 1971 Chevy LUV form the post but the certificate to obtain title has everything wrong. I’ve been buying parts as 1972 Chevy LUV. I’ll add a picture of what I’m having trouble with.

Either way, it's clearly a "first gen" LUV and that's completely outside my wheelhouse. I might have been able to help if it had been an '81 or later.

Hello,

It might be helpful for you to check the LUVTruck.com main menu Information tab, then the Miscellaneous area and then under that go to the History of Chevrolet LUV. I have used this often and found it informative as to what transpired on the LUV trucks. If you check this out, you will see according to the info, 1972 was the first year for the Chevy LUV.

If the original box is still on the pickup, it should have round taillights to be a 1972, however maybe the box has been changed.

As for the serial number you shared in the photo, according to the GM Series 1 thru 11 LUV Truck Parts and Illustration Catalog, your serial number is noted to be for a 1980 4-wheel drive. There is another place you might also find the S/N and that is on the firewall of the cab in the engine bay; it is more to the passenger side, (if this is a left-hand drive), below the cowl panel and above the emergency brake pulley area.

Hope this helps.

I believe you're looking at 2 different VINs. The early LUVs VIN did start with LUV. Later, the had the CRN. LUVs started in the USA as a 72, so you don't have a 71. Does it have a bed on it? What do the tail lights look like and where are they located. 4 headlights or 2?

They didn't make a LUV in 71. 72 was the first year.
