The wipers on my 81 do not work. Gotta figure that out. Are wiper motors and the steering column switch available?

The switch contacts tend to get dirty over time.

I don't like RockAuto -- but last I heard, they had aftermarket replacements available. But it's been a while, and I haven't heard of anyone actually buying one. Often, they list an item as "available" and you may find out it's no longer available AFTER placing your order.

The same combo switch was used in P'ups through 1987 and Troopers through 1991. There's a version that includes "intermittent wipers" but the '81 wiring doesn't support that feature.

Thanks Jack. If I can find a switch for Isuzu I’d be very happy. How about the wiper motors? Are they hard to get?

I don't know. I've never heard of one going bad.

One other thing to check is the wiper transmission (that's what the linkage from the motor to the wipers themselves is called). The linkage on my LUV got so rusty the motor didn't have enough power to cycle the wipers, the electrical was fine. On my truck it's very difficult to get to & oil including the wiper posts that extend through the cowl.

Also check the ignition switch. My wipers didn't work and by accident I found out that my ignition switch was so wore out that any key would turn it; so I replaced the switch. Loandbehold my wipers started working. I found the ignition switch at AutoZone.
