I am looking for someone who knows the C22ne engine. I think this engine is found in the Chevy LUV. It is a 2.2L MPFI gasoline engine.

I have a misfire when the engine is at idle. It has always been like this for many years. I have put in new spark plugs, new ignition leads, and also a new coil pack.
The cylinder head was just machined, new valve stem seals and re machined the valves and valve seats.

What else can it be?

crankshaft/camshaft position sensor? O2 sensor or its heater failing? Vacuum leak? Weak injector?

Also, I bought one of those inline spark testers. It is the one that flashes with an orange light every time the ignition pulse fires. Well you could clearly see that every so often the light would miss a flash then at the same time the car will stumble.

So the engine is actually getting no spark when this happens too.

The 2.2 gas motor wasn't used in any LUVs built between 1972-1982, which were the years they were available in the US. Later year LUVs (not available in US) and some other Isuzu, Holden, Opals, etc used them.

This site is really just full of information on the 72-82 LUVs. You might get lucky and find someone with the knowledge to help you, but you might do better checking on an Isuzu site.

Agreed. I’d suggest the PlanetIsuzoo.com forum. I believe they cover just about everything Isuzu.
