No matter where I check, they say it's the right cap. But when I get it, It's the wrong cap. Does anyone have the right part # for the oil filler cap for my '72?

Maybe this is a dumb question but have you gone and measured the hole size? It's a tuff job on these trucks...but tell you what, post a photo of the hole with a ruler across it and we will measure it for you

I keed, I keed....

There are several valve cover styles and I am not completely clear about which years have which hole sizes. I do have a spare 'small hole' style plug that I got off of a junked LUV thinking it would fit - nope!

If it's the one you need, I will send to you for free + shipping if it's the right size. Cute little plug..I wish it fit mine. Says "OIL" on top.

Just checked - the spare I've got is too small - about 1-3/8" and your hole seems to be closer to 1-3/4"

At any rate, your best bet is to bring that cap into the auto parts store with you and tell them to find one like it. AC Delco and others make universal caps that should be on the shelf anywhere car parts are sold.

Alternatively, go to a junkyard with the cap in hand and go find yourself a $2 good-enough replacement. Test fit your cap on the junk car for comparison.

And nice truck by the way! You even have the same wheels I do. Would love to see some interior pics.
