This was a long time coming since I had looked at these trucks last thanksgiving. We couldn't reach an agreement then and tried again in January but no go on the price. I got a call 2 weeks ago and it was time for the 2 78's to go home with me. Not that I need 2 more trucks but I couldn't pass it up. My main interest is in the yellow truck since it has a crawl through cab into the shell. Old school just like they came. It was a one owner truck since new but has been sitting 7 years in a parking lot waiting for a new motor. My goal is to save the yellow truck and will part out the gray one. The gray truck is a mess and hopefully will help other Luvs stay on the road longer.

If anyone local needs anything shoot me a PM. I am not looking to make big bucks, just support my Luv hobby. All proceeds from parts sale go towards the yellow truck. 8)

I have been curious about the crawl thru cab deal.. How do they seal up along the bottom and side at bed level? I imagine it has a rubber seal between the cap and cab but what is lower?

I haven't looked too close at it yet but it looks like they glue wood around the opening on the bed side. Then sew up a boot made of Naugahyde with staples on the bed side and snaps around the inside of the cab. There is very little gap from the cab to the shell and the shell has a standard seal cut at the bottom. I'll take some picks tomorrow.

That is so cool, never seen anything like that. It came like that from the factory or a dealer add on thing?

They were done custom by an aftermarket company. It was pretty common back in the day and they used to do pretty nice interiors in the back too. I think this was done by the camper shell installer and they usually had at least a carpet kit in back.

I need the shell. I finally found a fiberglass Tonneua cover from back in the day, gave up on a snug top and got this.

I had been looking for a shell for 5 years and this year I found 3 of them. The first one I found I think is for a Datsun 521 but the other 2 are for a Luv. I would sell the Datsun one (Red Truck) but the other 2 are keepers. The Datsun shell is a little small on the rails (58.5" instead of 60"). To make it fit better it needs the window enlarged to the Luv shape, the opening is a little small. Let me know if you are interested Karl. 8)

I was feeling guilty for cutting up the black truck right up until I pulled up the carpet. It has had some major floor pan repairs. The chassis was hauled away last Sunday so I am down to 3 trucks and holding. I kept the bed and cut the roof off for a future project. I wanted to keep more but ran out of space. The yellow truck is packed with parts.
