Hard to believe, but yes, stolen with a flat tire and a massive fuel leak.

We followed the trail of gasoline for 3 blocks where it ends. We're guessing they ran out of gas and then towed it from there.

There is mother lower then a thief. If parents show up from it lets get together and goy buy them from him, then we can call the cops and let them have what's left over.

Are there any leads yet? Looking at that report, a Sonoma 2 blocks away got jacked 4 days later. Vernon St had 4. Is that close to you Ben?

This scares me man. I just had my daily driver stolen - an 87 fuckin' Camry, of all the things they could have had on my street. Between that nonsense, and your truck getting taken like that, I'm worrying about my truck even more. They're so easy to break into.

Ben, what would you have done in retrospect to help prevent this?

I use a wheel club (and of course the tried and true practice of never fixing dents or washing it :ebiggrin ) but do any of y'all use kill switches or anything more passive to help prevent this sort of thing?

No leads. There's been a run of stolen vehicles in the area.

I can't help but think it's not far away but we've been looking for it and nothing yet. Now that it's been awhile, I admit, I'm thinking I'll never see it again.

What would I do different? Well, normally I would say this or that, but in my case, they drove it off with a flat-ass tire and a massive fuel leak. There was about 5 gallons of gas on the ground where it was parked so they let it run for a couple minutes before driving off. Then they left a trail of gas for two blocks until they ran out of gas. Then somehow kept going, we're guessing by towing it. All of this without anyone noticing. Apparently they wanted it bad. I'm not sure if anything would have prevented it.

So what was the fail here?

Well, let's be honest. Someone had to see something. There's just no way. It's not a quiet vehicle. There are always people out and about around here. But none of my neighbors are talking. In fact, most of them are keeping pretty dam quiet about it. Like when you ask them, they say no, and then change the subject.

So the lesson I learned is, my neighbors are a bunch of assholes that think keeping your mouth shut is right thing to do. One even told me that I should stop asking around and just "deal" with it. They have that BS "snitches get stitches" mentality. At some point, our area became a fricken hood! It happened slowly over time so I didn't really notice.

My wife and I are discussing other options. I can't sleep in my car with a gun, so everything from security systems to relocating is on the table.

I guess, in hindsight, I should have just put an alarm on it.

I'm so sorry Ben. That really sucks. And to top it off, yea, sounds like it's time to move.

Sorry for your loss Ben. I hate a F'n thief. Had my house broken into 2 years ago. The thieves got away over 5 grand in cash and wife's jewelry. Of corse the cops are never around when you need them and they took forever to get there, but if your speeding they are always around. Lol
Ben if you lived closer I'd give you another Chevy Luv out of my collection. I know it wouldn't be the same as yours, but at least you would have one again.
Mike.

It is sad to see Ben, I hope it turns up. This is what happens when you let 9000+ criminals out of prison in CA. Crime is up across the board.

Found about 2 miles from my house.

According to the neighbor (who I'm 95% sure stole the fuel pump), it's been sitting in front of his house for this whole time.
