Hi I'm new to the Chevy LUV and was considering buying a '79 Mikado Sport 4x4. I was wondering if these trucks with the original Isuzu motor would be reliable as daily drivers. I don't want my good judgement to be blinded by how cool this truck is!! So I just was looking for advice. Anything advice would be greatly appreciated!!

RUN!!! Delete your account and run away as fast as you can, to a Chevy dealer, and just get a brand new Colorado.

Yes a LUV can be very reliable. Especially if you know a little bit about cars and can wrench on it yourself when needed. With these trucks being so old now, it depends on the individual truck and what shape it is in today. But so many are still around today because they are good running, tough little trucks. 8)

Hahaha. Well I appreciate it and the one I've been looking at seems to be in great shape, so as long as I can rely on it not to crap out on me then it'll all be good!

Big up side is these trucks are SO SIMPLE. If and when something does go wrong it is very easy to get to whatever went wrong and fix it. Much easier than a new Colorado

Well I'm glad to hear that!! I don't have any mechanical experienced so I'm sure if I have any problems I'll be coming straight here haha
