I bought my house in 2000, never seen a rat or mouse around it since. Walk out to my LUV the other day and a rat ate part of my passenger seat. I hunted him down, he didn't make it. Had my seat re done and now I am upgrading my fan to a spal. Still want to swap out engines but I guess that time will come later.

You have to love the wild life. I bought a Saturn wagon about 7-8 years ago and the first night I brought it home a rat or rats ate 2.5 of the plug wires off of it. Like several inches of the wires too. I assume the rats didn't make it because I never had another problem with them eating anything else.

I read that mice and rats hate peppermint, mabey a man could get a peppermint air freshener and keep inside your truck.

I'm a automotive service advisor (20 years and counting) and have seen countless vehicles damaged by rodents. Usually it's chewed wiring in the engine bay or nests in the blower motor. I've seen darn near everything tried in attempting to repel the critters. Moth balls, peppermint, you name it. So far nothing has proven effective. Matter of fact, I've given several of the "repellants" a try in my own LUV and still the rodents still chew away. I did manage to cure a packrat issue in my other vehicle...with a pellet rifle.

On a side note, I'd never recommend putting rat poison anywhere in a vehicle. The dust and fumes are extremely toxic. Even when placed in the engine bay, badness can get into the cabin via the vent ducting and ruin your day.
