As I was talking to the 'family commander' while she was at work about the LUV (somehow it came into our conversation) she asked me an odd question - what was I going to call it?

I have been known to name vehicles in the past based on 'personality' -

I had a firebird named '1 eyed willy' because 9 times out of 10 one of the headlight buckets wouldnt rise up when I turned the lights on.

or a little K car I named 'oscar the grouch' because if I did any one thing out of its design parameters it'd crap out on me and be a pain to fix.

so yeah, now shes wanting me to name the LUV. Has anyone given their little truck a nickname?

I used to name all my aircooled VW's. That was what everyone did. I do sort of name some of my stuff. My old 95 Chey truck I call "big green" or "old green" at times. It is green in color and a 3/4 ton. I called my old Ford HD tow package 3/4 ton extended body "Monster Van". So far not my Luv's. I should, makes it easier to say what I am talking about.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

I named my HHR Princess since I spent 2-3 hours a day detailing it for the first 5 years I had it. I have 5 or 6 trophy's to show for it so it was worth the effort. Ironically I got a flat on the way home today on the 5 north. Changing a flat 4' from moving traffic was tense... :esurprised

Not to mention going from a 18" wheel to a 16" donut. It was making some strange noises on the limp home.

I understand the tire changing on the side of the road, at CalTrans I did it daily.

I limped my truck/camper on the shoulder of I-5 about 1/4 mile to get to the next exit to change my right rear blow out. It popped the air bag during that limp, but it was worth it to not get hit on the shoulder.

Well, my 79 long bed LUV was given to me by the youth pastor at my church, and I got it running after it sat in his backyard for over a year. He named it Lazarus at that point, a few years before I received it, and the name stuck. That old truck has been in and out of service a few times in the ten years I've had it, and he comes back strong every time, so Lazarus fits very well! I've still not named the 75 I saved from the crusher early this year, as it is not on the road just yet, so I don't know that one well enough to name it.

That's very creative! Aptly named really. I have yet to name it, but I'm leaning toward "Thumper" as I keep thumping my head every time I get in. Not easy for a 6'1" nearly 300 pounder to fit in a LUV

Depending on what happens when I get home to my truck I might name it Tailer Luv cause in the 3 months I owned it, it spent more time on a danm trailer for one reason or another.

I've named mine Battletruck Galactica,.
she's got a lot of rust issues, and I feel that one day she'll suffer the same fate as the Battlestar Galactica.
