I won't try to speak for Ben, but I'm gonna make a guess here. This forum software allows uploads. In the early days of this site, it did not. You had to have your pictures hosted somewhere else. I'm guessing that's why the separate section of the site was created.

Personally, I'd rather see people's trucks in their own intro/project/build thread, because it allows comments. I absolutely loathe photobucket (and imageshack and all the others), though. In this case, it blows up the page width on my screen. If the photos were uploaded as attachments, they'd always fit the screen.

And back on topic, that is a REALLY good looking 1st gen specimen!
