Well, after getting rid of my stepside LUV a few years ago due to medical problems, then buying another one not too long after, working at Wallyworld, crushing four vertabrae which layed me up for a year, and trying to go back to work only to have to quit, I said screw it, I'm going to work on my LUV. I have been lurking around watching others and their projects and am glad to see LUV's being taken care of.
I have a 1986 GM 5.0L engine (Canadian) and just finished taking it apart to clean and install new gaskets/seals. While flushing the lifters, I noticed they don't have springs. Can someone explain how these lifters work?
I'll post pics and updates as I go along, but my progress will be slow as I have to pace myself and figure out how to make tasks easier for me to handle and accomplish. Heck it took me two days to strip the engine down and had to ask my wife to pull the heads off the block.
Last, this will be a soda budget build so I'll be trying to do as much as I can by myself and build as much as I can with stuff lying around and things I get by bartering or free.
To all of you, keep up the great work, this site, and those LUV's alive!
