Chevy LUV = 2, '00 Black SS Camaro = 0

Also this weekend but nothing to really brag about:
Chevy LUV = 3, Black built Subaru WRX AWD Turbo = 0

These weren't money races unfortunately... just some unlucky suckers that pulled up next to me at a light at about 11pm on a Saturday night. They both got smoked....badly, and they even caught me off guard with my bottle unhooked. I think the guy in the AWD car really thought he was going to rip me out of the hole.... I had to show him what 10" slicks and a 3500 stall was all about. lol.

I dont go out to any organized meet spots anymore. I just roll around in areas that are rich with cars. east county on a Saturday night about 10pm is good. I roll by places that are open late like starbucks where I know cars hang out. do some trolling thru the parking lot..... and see what I can reel in.

The guy in the SS Camaro never knew what hit him. most people after the first pass will pull up at the next light and say: "you got a V-8 in that?" but this guy pulled up and said:"I spun, gimme a second run". Sometimes i feel bad for picking on the naive.

Guys in the WRX kept wanting to race at every light like they thought somehow they were going to get lucky and magically make up 10-12+ carlengths that they were getting beat by. on the 3rd pass i gave them the move and went by them spinning the tires.

I had a lot of fun this weekend :o)

I have one of my backup motors in it. I used to run a stock 350, I mean BONE stock 1977 smog heads and L72 vette camshaft that idles smooth and everything. holley 600 on a Torker intake. probably a whoppin 275hp on a good day but it seems that it cant handle repeated 350 shots so it gave up. Hey it was a free motor.

So now it has my second backup motor.... this one is a mild 406. low compresssion hypeuretectic pistons, bout a half inch lift hydraulic, Erson gear drive, polished X rods. 993 casting heads with 2.02/1.60" valves, a mild bowl blending/pocket port job. Holley 750 with some mods on a Vic. JR Intake. its basically a warmed over stocker with a couple of nitrous plates stacked on it. For all you budget people that want to go fast for cheap, I HIGHLY reccomend this combo in a 406 or 383 motor. it should put an ungutted LUV into the 10.70 range on a 175 shot.

426 sbc is still in the works but time constraints and a bunch of other shit are keeping it from coming together in a timely manner. was thinking about doing the unthinkable and buying a 426 from Bill Mitchell Hardcore Racing. 6K for the shortblock. but since i am considering a prebuilt motor, i was thinking 434 instead. Shit i dunno.

Damn you, you lucky dog. They put a law into effect here on Sept. 1st that seems like it has put a damper on street racin. I know I aint been out since, aint worth going to jail.

San Diego is the founder of street racing laws!! We have laws making it a misdemeanor to spectate a street race. That means if you are standing there on the street and you see two cars pull up to a light and you turn your head to watch then you could go to jail for a night and get fined a bunch of $$$$.

They also enacted a law here that says they can take your car from you PERMANENTLY if you get caught street racing.

San Diego is home to "Dragnet" aka "Fagnet" which is the SDPD street racing task force. They have a team of 30+ officers whose only job is to bust street racers.

The only thing that the above 3 things did was drive street racers out of the desolate 2am street racing spots (where they were hurting nobody) and into the city where they race from any and every stop light in mid-day traffic. Fatalities from freeway top end races and stop light racing sky rocketed after all this.

I have been street racing for a long time now... bout 17 years.... I dont do it as much as I used to but when i do, i just try to do it as safely as possible away from where people are. I have no plans of stopping right now.

man you would get along realy well whith my dad. He used to drag race a 57 bell air whith a 327 in the early 80s and was pushing 11.75 consistantly. But he didnt street race it alot, most of his stuff was on the 1/4.

My dad is the one that kinda got me into cars. when i was a kid he used to drive me around in his 64 Chevelle SS, 350, muncie 4speed car. He wasnt into racing really but he liked to roar around. I loved the sound of that car. I was bummed when he sold it for $200!!! my uncle was a fairly well known street racer in SD back in the 60's with a 64 GTO, 389 Tri-power and before that, a 1957 Chevy pickup with a 9,000RPM 283.
