Capri V6 used to be almost as common as the buick 231 swap in mini trucks. I liked that motor.

Contact Tim Beezley. You can find his info in the projects section of the gallery. His truck had a V-6 Ford motor before he upgraded to a SB setup.

yeah, im the guy that had the v6 ford, it was in there when i bought it, i might still have the motor mounts running around if ya want me to look for em. it was a 3.0 v6 AOD outta an 89 ford aerostar van, didnt run that great, but the tranny was also goin out, wouldnt even powerstall on water

wonder if a 2.8 out of a pre-86 ranger would work. they had a horrid mess of computer controlled carb junk, but you could yank all that and slap a weber 40 on and call it good. only problem i've heard of being real common with those is that the valve seals wear out and smoke, but easy to fix

i think most trannies that would fit a windsor smallblock bolt up to this motor

Ive heard of alot of motor swoppin but I dont think I have ever heard of a ford motor in a luv. Kinda gives me the shakes, but if it works and you can still smoke the tires then I guess it couldnt be all that bad. :)

I've seen a 351 ford in a luv once, but never a V6. Also knew someone with a Dodge 318 in a luv once upon a time. With enough fabrication anything is possible, and V6s tend to take a little less banging on the firewall to fit. Now if you really just want to be different, slap a Wankle in there. Ford (well, Mazda) did a rotary in Couriers back in the day. I imagine if one could get their hands on a 4 rotor imported motor it could be a very interesting swap. Rear end gearing would be fun to work out, but anything is possible.

The old saying goes, "put a chevy motor in a ford to make it go fast". Do what you want, but I would stick close to home. Chevy in a chevy if it were me.

for info on those rotary pickups, go to http://www.mazdarepu.com

it's a rotary pickup fansite, there's some guys who are really knowledgeable on those cool trucks. they're easy to spot, they look like an old courier with the words "ROTARY POWER" on the back.

however, i don't think a rotary really belongs in a truck...they kind of lack torque. definitely has cool factor though

sounds like it could have been the piece of junk gm 2.8 v6...then again it might not have. i know that motor was in isuzus in the late 80s-early 90s though
