Babyluv, chevyluv1980 and any other LV members...

could you help a brother out??? I am going on vacation with the family on August 16th.. one of my stops is going to be in LV. I am always on the lookout for the street racing scene in whatever town I travel to. Can you tell me where the fast cars in LV hang out / race? I am not talking about them 14 second turbo Civics either. I am looking for some 8-11sec muscle cars. I am not bringing my LUV or my Camaro out since this is the family vacation but I am kind of scouting it out for some future... action (ahem.. money races!). Any help would be appreciated. street names, landmarks, etc. Thanks

Sorry, but I don't know of anything like that. I live a sheltered life with all of the honey do things around the house and putting in long hours on duty at Nellis AFB. Of course right now I am at work, but taking a break. If you want, give me a call at my house while you are in Vegas. I will be on leave and hopefully working on my truck. Heck, I might even cook up a huge pot of chicken and sausage gumbo for everyone!

been to LA... sylmar and compton. raced some cars. won some money. then one night i was up there in my cousins nitrous mustang and we almost got car jacked at a light near Crenshaw. Havent been back since.

I am not totally opposed to going back to LA but my vacation happens to be partly in LV ths month so thats where i am scouting. I scout out the scene in every town i visit.

Thanks Rick (cool name btw... thats my name too) Unfotunately I will be on the whirlwind tour of Vegas, visiting 2 sets of friends out there and somewhere in between doing some site seeing. The Gumbo sounds very enticing and I'm always interested in meeting people off of the message boards I frequent but the schedule doesnt look like its going to permit :( PM me your number and I will bring it along just in case I get a chance to make a break from my honey do's. I really appreciate the offer though.

Maybe when I come back with the car to do some racin, i will have to swing by and drag you out there with me.

You will probably NEVER see a pic of my car or LUV on the internet EVER. Why? Couple of reasons....I street race and have for over 17 years... incidentally without EVER being busted. Cops in SD are out to nail street racers with a vengeance and theres nothing they hate more than a person that posts pics of their car all over the internet. That stuff gets around and gets people busted.. I've seen it happen to my friends... they lost some very expensive hardware that way.

I often race for money... That means you always have to have the upper hand. If I ever talked about how fast my LUV is on here, you can bet its actually faster than that but I never get too specific on my ET's.

Theres nothing special about my truck. It's primered and I'm not in a hurry to post pics of my primered truck.

Theres not a whole lot of enginuity into it. its a V-8 LUV with a small block on nitrous rolling on stock suspension, Narrowed 9" spinning Weld Wheels and 28x10 Badyears. Wow! I've never seen that before!

if it will make you feel better, I will post a pic of my mini-tubbed and caged 1966 Chevy II, one of 30 cars I have owned. I sold that a while ago to a person far away from here so I could probably post a pic of that.

If I ever decide to go legit racing only, I may post a picture or two... but thats not looking very likely right now.

If you really must see what my LUV looks like or if I even have one, bring $$$$ and get in the other lane :D

My god! I hope your friend isnt the asian dude with the red twin turbo RX7 my friend raced 2 years ago. the guy claimed it did 8's. my friends 10.30 car wiped his ass all over the streets of Compton. I made a tidy $450 off that race.

lol he is asian but no 10th anniversary came in white hes no ricer he does own a ricer shop for the ricers that come hes like the #1 in LA for the rotary life. hes a hardcore rotary guy. i go help him do lil stuff here and there ive seen a bunch a mustang guys come to the shop and muscle car guys and they always start talking shit about the hondas and stuff outside the shop, so then one day my friend his name is steve he came out and said what about the Mazdas? they didnt say anything

but no he doesnt street race, he used to back in the day when the rx2 where out now he only build cars for the guys with big $$$ he does great work though. thats where i buy my lil stuff from for my luv like he got me those kyb gr2 shocks for my truck now today im ganna go see if he can get me some sway bars that i found for the luv.

now the only time he races is at the track. or unless u piss him off he will race u on the spot

I am not totally against imports but if you must know... do some research into the "scene" down here in SD. We (domestics) had something good going on and the mobs of kids trying to act all hard, racing their imports at every light in the mid day traffic, having no respect for other people or their property pretty much messed all of that up. Now I know thats a generalization and not all import drivers are like that but... I know the domestic guys arent the ones killing themselves down here every other month.

See if I was one of the muscle car guys hanging out outside of his shop I woulda said MAZDAS TOO! ESPECIALLY MAZDAS!

Ok I'm on to something. I hit up a street racing message board and saw that one of the guys said he went out there a few months ago and raced some cars. He's claiming that he smoked them all and that LV cars are slow but my junk isnt as fast as his so there may be some competition for me. Its mainly late model stuff like Camaros, Firebirds and Mustangs. Damn its hard to get street names out of anybody.

hey luvsadrag, if you ever make it up to the Spokane area we have NICE cars. Theres alot of rice but even more 40+ year old guys reliving thier teenage years wich mean REAL cars. My dad and i are starting to rebuild his old car "the Decever" its a 57bel air 2door hard top that in its hey day ran 11.57s whith just a mildly built 327 (that will be going in my luv). You might enjoy the racing scene up here.

for a 9 sec car... on the street... yes but GA is too far for me. I have to be reasonable with my travels with a family and all. However,
My friend and I are wrenching away on his new Alston tube chassis 63 Nova. We are expecting a low 8 from it on a conservative methanol and 15% nitromethane tune. Its a "small block" street car (if ya wanna call it that). He might be up for a trip down there.

There is a guy coming down from WA state next month to race me and my friend. he is bringing 2 sets of gears for his car... I am running him for top end shits and grins in my camaro and my friend is running him on a heads up street race. should be fun. He has told me a lot about the scene up there too. I definitely want to come up and check it out. Sounds like my kinda place.
