has anyone else encountered a problem with the stock frame under your luv starting to rot especially on the drivers side body and bed mounts? there are also holes in the actual frame portion that i can stick my whole hand through (i am 6'-3'' with hands large enough to palm a black diamond watermellon) i was curious if anyone found a better solution than i did. i removed the cancer affected areas and welded a piece of channel steel i made on a hydraulic brake over the area i removed. i didn't cut the whole frame, just the flat portion where the rot was. :?:

hey dude- we take pride in spending all our tax dollars on salt that rusts out all of our vehicles- NOT! no really it is bad, all of the luvs in yards are rusted through so bad.... i needed a marker light off of one of em and i was able to push it out with one finger, yah its pretty sad, luckily mine was from cali, the guy who owned it moved here in 95 and it sat in his garage for 5 yrs with a flat tire, that get this- was too hard to fix- so we got it off of him for 75 bucks, so once i got mine i completely scraped the frame down and painted it with rust treatment and falt black paint- the whole thing- god was i a mess once i was done, ttyl

MY 75 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND WE HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT IN 2 YEARS, BUT IT JUST KEEPS ON RUSTING. AT BOTH POINTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE FRAME TURNS UP IN BACK FOR THE BED AND IN FRONT FOR THE SUSPENSION. WE'RE GETTING READY TO BLAST THE FRAME AND REPLACE THE ROTTEN AREAS. ALSO I E-MAILED GM ABOUT SOURCES FOR LUV RESTRO PARTS ,IE DASH PADS, WEATHERSTRIPPING AND ETC.,AND JUST RECEIVED A LIST OF COMPANIES THAT WOULD POSSIBLY HAVE OR MAKE RESTO PARTS :? IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED I CAN GIVE YOU A COPY OF THE INFO

that would be really cool if you post the links or add them to the site. everywhere i have looked for window seals and such i get the same response, "sorry but we just dont have very many parts for your truck." i know i probably haven't looked as hard as i could have but you know. it all goes back to me being very lazy and enjoying a few beers now and again :drinking:
