As long as it is a pleasure vehicle, you are fine. If it is a daily driver, then you may feel stressed.
If you ever get stumped on something, you can always ask questions on here.

Take pictures before you remove things for future reference.

You can always begin by detail cleaning and maybe repainting little parts. A wirewheel, small scrapers, and wire brushes
are inexpensive and necessary in detailing. Another trick is to buy a cheap dish scrubber, liquid dish soap, and a bucket.
Underhood parts, as well as virtually any other parts will clean up pretty well with dish soap. It removes the road grime and
greasy residues. And it works real good on your hands too!

Write down your plans. Set small goals and complete them.

And most of all, do things to the truck the way YOU want them done... not the way others are telling you. If you
want to stay stock, then stick to that plan. If you want to V8 it, there are kits available, but you need to consider the cost.

You can do it!

Walk away for a few minutes, get mad, and finish it is what I usually do...

I have done exactly what swet4more said with mine. Set daily/weekly/monthly and FINISH goals and work towards each one but you also have to be flexible. There are times when you are waiting on parts, get sick, kids get sick and so forth that may alter the plan but stick to it and if you are waiting on something on one particular goal work on something else that is MINOR. I set goals with my vehicles, home improvements and definitely DOG TRAINING where we go in baby steps to reach a point. Even if it's a daily driver only work one thing at a time and stick to times when you have a couple days off in a row or at least and evening and the next day.

Something that is worth it's weight in Gold to me is my SHOP MANUALS. I bought the last one off E-bay for under $9.00. Definitely better than a Haynes or Chiltons.

If its a specific thing that you are frustrated with......just completly stop

Go work on something completey different on your list..comeback and restart on the problem area when you have a clear mind and have maybe made some progress in a different area and have a fresh state of mind...

Get mad, cuss, walk away cussing, drink beer, calm down, start again later. This has always worked for me!

That's a rubber hammer for me. If I get that frustrated I will beat the hell out of a piece of steel with it, though I try not to let myself get to that point anymore.

thx guys that makes me feel a lot better. I feel underskilled and thought that that was the root of my frustration. I can see that many of you very skilled builders and tinkers are going through the same things. Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Many of us who you call skilled had to start where you are, many of us went to the school of hard knocks to learn what we know.

I am surprised Dog trainer did not say it. Go play with the dog if you have one... Do some kind of mindless task, for me it is mowing the yard...

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

PapaG, I have done that many times. I live about a mile from the Missouri river so if it's in the summer I will take the dogs down and throw them a few training bumpers. Even though this is a LUVtruck website when I get frustrated woodworking I can splinter the hell out of a piece of scrap wood and that really seems to help.

Try thinking in 3D meaning when you get stumped due to difficulties or experience then try walking around your project and look at it from the back even if in your mind and you will get a different perspective on it.

Another hint is to not over work yourself you will be amazed at how much you will accomplish at just 1 hour a night or just a few hours a week.

Like some of the others said this is your project build it your way but take all ideas that you like and make work for you.
