i havnt chnaged it in over 7,000 . i think so i knew i had to do it this weekend so i went out and bought 2 quarts of atf dextron mercon and added that to my 2 quarts of 15-40. i put in on friday when i droped the oil and left the old filter on there and than drove it around town. today i droped the oil and it looked liike i never changed the oil it was so dirty . so use atf actually helps clean out ur motor!! i also didnt want to drive on the freeway with 1/2 and 1/2 so thats why i changed it sooner but my truck runs a lot better and hopefully i freed up some ponies and get a little beter mpg

Be careful. Sometimes trying to "clean up" an old eng. will knock dirt out of places where dirt is holding it together. usually the seals. Watch for new oil leaks now.

When I have an old eng. I just do regular maint., nothing fancy, and just drive it.
