I've noticed that there does not seem to be many 81-82 Luvs around, mostly 70's models. Has anyone else noticed this. Were the new generation (81-82) Luvs just not popular? I Luv mine.

the reason why they are not popular was 81 is the year Chevy released the S-10 pick-up. They never really advertised for the LUV second generation, because they made a larger profit off S-10 sales. Their styling compared to the toyotas and nissans was out dated. The horsepower for the vehicle was rediculous like comparing a scooter to a moped. Chevy knew the model was dying so they didn't try to do anything in that department even though the troopers from the same year and earlier had bigger engines and they could have easily made those standard or at least listed them as options. No the 81-82 LUV was never meant to last, they were just trying to milk the last they could out of the teat with no invesment into the sweet little trucks. All they want to do is haul around stuff and climb mountains getting dirty in the mud. So it is us the few to keep what remaining LUV trucks that we possibly can on the road so future generations can see a little bit of history. And so they know a little bit of wrenching to keep the truck as simple and effecient as possible can actually be better for the environment then paying huge dollars for cars that won't last nearly as long.

OOPS!! I meant the same year S-10 not same year trooper. I think it was 84 when the Troopers came out not 81. But the S-10 had an optional V6 that ended up in the Troopers and PUPs later and Chevy could have had those optional.
