It's so nerve-racking. I had the bid with a buffer on the set of pistons for my 1.8. The time was <1 minute. I hit refresh, and when I did I received an e-mail simultaneously. I thought "hey, I won", but nooooo, it was an outbid notice. The guy got me in the last 10 or 20 seconds of the auction. DAMN, I hate e-bay. That sucks...

...Sorry, I needed to vent.
:(

Sounds like yall fell victim to e snipe. You go to e-snipe.com.Enter in some info price ,which item your bidding ect. and it goes in at the last few seconds and places the winning bid for you.Hope this helps.

I use a cable connection. The connection wasn't too slow. The guy just got me. From another post you may remember that I was also bidding on an Offy intake. I gave up when the guy who was volleying back and forth with me for a couple of day outbid me at $90.00. I continued to watch as the auction closed the next day just to see him destroyed by a war between two newcomers in the last 3 or 4 minutes that ended in a final bid placed 20 seconds before expiration for $137 and some change. The common thing between the two winners of these auctions was that they both had HUGE sale and buy transactions. I think they're pros or something. If I see these things back up in a couple of days for sale again I'll probably be PISSED.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. I just got home from duty and wanted to add this fuel to the fire. MUAHAHAHA!
(I think I'm going nuts. It must be the endless rain. )

The best way to bid on something is to either wait till teh auction is almost over, or use esnipe.com and set the buffer time to like 8 seconds. I used to bid on stuff and have to get into a bid war with people with 3 or 4 days still left. Now I use esnipe and don'e bid on it till the last seconds. Alot of people will look to see if an item has any bids on it, and only bid if it has bids already.

I use esnipe and it is great for those buttholes who like to wage the last minute war I just set in my max bid price and set myself for a 4 or 6 second buffer It's nice I have to say. I got my Hiperformance water pump that way picked it up for 26$ it was a good deal! I would suggest esnipe for you guys who do like to bid on ebay all the time funny thing is that I used to bag on my wife for spending som much time on ebay now I am friggin adicted to the damn thing  unfortunately here in the desert it does me no good( as I dont have access to it) Well just my two pennies!! later y'all
