I currently have a Haynes, Chilten and a Clymer manual for the LUV's and have got by well with them. I received a factory series 8 manual I bought off of e-bay and what a difference. I would highly suggest if you plan on tearing into or plan on keeping your LUV for any amount of time to get on e-bay and buy the factory manual. I wish I had bought this manual a while ago. The price varies but is not too steep, with the info you get it is priceless.

You mean the FAXON manual or some other? Thanks for the info by the way. I can't wait to cremate my Haynes manual with extreme predjudice.

I've noticed lots of errors in my Chiltons. Sometimes they post 1 image twice mislabelling 1 (usually the 1 I need :? )
Old dealership workshop manuals like this come up on ebay regular.
Some for $19.95 & some for as little as $0.99 opening bid with no reserve.
Be patient & wait for the cheapies because no one bids on 'em.
I got an 82 for 99 cents & 3 bux shipping to Fw to an Aussie "mate" because the seller wouldn't ship International.
(He sent me a square port 4-2-1 header for my I-Mark :D
Pacesetters & Calminis are round port, exit downward, not back, & too low having been designed for trucks)
I got an 83 for mine for < $5! 8)

The manual I speak of is a factory Chevrolet manual. This is the manual the dealers had for their tech's and sold through the parts department.

Here is a example. They are year specific.

X2
Year & model specific, hundreds of pages long, illustrated service procedures (including total engine rebuild), wiring schematics, torques, specs, etc.
They only went to dealership service departments & who brings a 25 yr old vehicle to the dealer for service? so they dump 'em.

We got into a discussion on another site about posting scans from manuals & the copyright infringement consideration.
The concensus was to PM such info to avoid possible problems, however unlikely.
My Workshop Manual has been almost as good as 800XL or JLEMOND :D

I agree. These are very helpful. I have 1 for my 78 and 1 for my 79.

Yep...you sure can't have too many manuals...or thank a lot of people around here enough!

I've got the Chilton, Haynes, Mitchel, Clymer, and Isuzu and Chevrolet factory manuals for the Imark, Impulse, Luv, Pup,and the Trooper/Rodeo - plus some others like the Peterson, etc.

But I still check here before I ever pick up a wrench...because manuals occasionally have typo's and they don't always tell you everything, or show enough decent pictures and diagrams.

And guys like 800xl and JLEMOND are great to be able to check with too. I've learned some very valuable short-cuts and nice little tricks that make things go a heck of a lot easier, cheaper, and faster from those guys and everyone else here.

And I've seen a few people get banned because they didn't appreciate this place (cough..Duane..cough) which just amazes and amuses the heck right out of me...lol
