Alright, this may sound like a stupid question, but are there any major differences between a 72-77 versus a 78-80 in relation to V-8 swaps? For example, I will be using the typical Hooker mounts in whatever year I get and I'm not as familiar with the 78-80's as I am the earlier models. I had a 76 before and I may end up with a 78 this time, I'm just wondering.
Thanks.

The only major difference between the older and newer Luv trucks is the stock motor mount placement. This determines what style of V-8 mount kit you should get. The older motor setup will require removing the stock mount pads and installing new brackets to the frame and the newer trucks have mount pads that can be used as is. you can build new mounts that will bolt to the exsisting pads. Other than that, the rest of the modifications are pretty much identical. Once you get your truck, just post what original motor mount setup you have and we can flood your mailbox full of plans and drawings of the correct mounts you'll need.

There's just a few appearance changes that shouldn't affect a V8 swap. They switched from a hydraulic clutch to a cable but I'm not sure if that was 77 or 78?
