i used to have a old GMC with a 305 auto and true duels. it had exhaust cutouts on it with the cables wired together on the dash. i loved coming thru a nice quiet rich neighborhood at midnight.
yank the cables and drop her in low.

When I first got my truck on the road, I tried just using 2-1/2 inch pipe and a cherry bomb...but it was so freakin' ungodly loud it hurt my ears whenever I punched it or backed off (and was prone to popping and snapping a lot)...lol. That got me bitched at by my neighbors and finally pulled over and warned by the local cops.

So I added a cheapo auto parts store muffler...but then it sounded like crap.

Then a friend suggested that I add a resonator tip...and that was the cure.

Now it's quiet enough when I'm sneakin' around tryin' to keep out of trouble - but when I want to get on it...it has a nice throaty rumble to it. Plus it has sufficient back pressure to not cause any noticable low-end torque loss either.

Mufflers?
