Hey guys, i know this has been covered before but i need to know where the best places to put speakers, sub and amp are in my 79.

I'm thinking there might be enough room behind my seats for subs in an angled box, but then again maybe not.

I have a standard bench seat in there, (i believe) so if that helps people... let me know

and where else could i put tweeters, 6x9's, 6'ers i have 2 6's right behind either passenger and driver side on the side wall. they sound like shit, but thats the way it came with the truck when i bought it, i just got new speakers for it.

thanks guys

I got 12in truck wedges off ebay, and a pair of 12 pioneers from crutchfield in my LUV. They fit if I put my seat all the way forward. Here's a pic of the setup.

I was able to fit this box behind my bench seat all the way back in my '75 I tried putting the sub in the middle but if I did it wouldn't go all the way back.

In my '78 I got vw bucket seats and I put a 10'' sub with a 800watt amp between the seats 2 6x9's behind the seats and 5.5's in the doors.

I have some holes in the sides behind the seats...I was just going to make some boxes for them and that as a place for speakers.

Then again they wont fit any big honk'n speakers... so I guess it depends on how big you want them.

Those holes in the lower rear sides of cab also go into rocker panels. May get a little wet. IDEA... use marine speakers!!! LOL

Dont know much about speaker set up but, could you put tweeters in headliner? Maybe custom build small boxes for inner door post.

wow.. lol

im in awe over the setups you guys have.

I could never make something like that unless I had someone helpin me, and for some reason i've been really lazy to do anything to my truck because its SOOO dirty on the inside from the last owner.

he put carpet over the old interior and when i lifted up the carpet its all brown and shit is just everywhere underneath...rust.. bugs..pine needles, etc.

I need to have a hay day with my truck, rip out the seats, rip up the carpet and clean it out. anyone wanna help? :-p

i've been planning that for months now since i got it back in august. but haven't gotten around to it.

maybe its because im 18 and quite lazy ATM.

heh

one day ill have an awesome setup like those. but one question, do the systems sound awesome back there? I think my seat is all the way forward anyway, i've never tried to move it back, and im 6'2 and barely have room. I have to squeeze under the steering wheel, and its a smaller one than stock. a lot smaller. (makes it almost impossible to turn sharp corners due to no power steering. haha)

I have the same problem as you do, I have a 10" sub behind each seat but being so tall I have to have the seat back as for as it can go (I am 6'3") so the subs are pretty muffled but there really isnt much more you can do besides do a pass through into the bed which I will never do.
Dont have any pics of the the boxes they are in. but you can almost see a port in this pic.

When I redo the truck, I will be hiding mid ranges in the doors and tweeters under the dash.

i'm 5'4". I usually sit far back from the wheel, and with the seat all the way up, it sucks pretty bad, even for me.

i have done a bucket seat conversion and a Grant Steering wheel since then. Havn't driven it around since thoes converts though, because they were done while I have it garaged getting paint slapped on it.

being short, and having a tiny truck rocks!

I hope to be tall when I grow up :smt120

I was kind of thinking about making a fiberglass console with a sub built inside of it.... when I start on the interior. Which is a long long long ways away.
One that will streach from one end of the cab to the other, so it will house the stick shift as well ...

Just food for thought I guess
