Good job on the detailing of the engine compartment. Nice and clean. You mentioned, minor rust? Where? That is a real nice, clean truck. Great Job!

well if you take a look at the pics of the exterior, and you look at the upper left of the cab (the back view) there is a pretty nasty piece of rust, and above the vents on the side there are rust spots that the guy before me tried to paint over or something, and on the bed sides there are what look like gashes of rust.

like someone just took a knife or something and cut it, and then theres a few other spots here and there, ill have to take close up pictures of the rust spots sooner or later, because ill need advice on how to fix them without messin up the truck completely. haha

but thank you for the compliments, it means a lot to me :-)

after working so hard on this thing, i feel she deserves some well earned attention.

also, i had a carbon fiber exhaust tip bolted down on the exhaust, so it looked alot better then the old rusted one, but somebody stole it last night.

so i ordered a stainless steal resonated one off ebay, and im gonna have it welded on. i hate people who steal stuff, its annoying sometimes. haha

I am from Olympia just 100 miles north of you. I have 6 luvs that i am currently working on. 3-2wd, 2-4wd and 1-long bed.
As the weather gets better we might need to have a little get together. There are a few other guys around. Might have to have a LUV round up.

i wish i knew where to find the paint for this color.

it seems like its non existant anymore unless i can find someone to find exactly what colors they are.

the color isn't printed in the hood where its supposed to be, the paint number is blank. :-(

I've never seen one that color, you sure it's original?

well i always thought it wasn't original because the truck used to be white, and then yellow, now this color.

but a few people from here have told me this color was one they used on 76 luv's. but i dont know why someone would paint a 79 a 76 color, unless they liked the color, or its some custom color.

whoever did it though was in a hurry because they painted my leaf springs, shackles, even the spare tire. hahah

im hoping its a color easy to find, but so far its proven to be quite difficult.

(edit) if you look through the owners pics, you will see like 2 or 3 that are this exact color, but only in certain parts, i think one is just the front end, and another that is just the bed or something.

so it must have been original at some point.

page 5 of the master parts catalog has all the luv stock colors part numbers and paint manufacturers by year.

master parts list is in the information section of http://www.luvtruck.com

i think it is shannon green that was only done for one year 1976 (series 5)

if you want to know the original color of your truck I would look up under the dash or in the cavity behind the seats, behind the fenders when you have them off or other hard to paint areas. doors bed fenders and hoods are not a good indicator since they are easily swaped out.

yeah someone told me it was shannon green :-)

anddd i looked under the dash and its white. sooo it was white.

and under the floor carpet is white as well. and under the scratches in the bed is white (althought u said that was a bad place to look) as well as the original engine bay color was white before i painted it.

If this works, here is a picture of my 76 the day i found it. It must be faded shannon green. I am going to try and get as close as i can to the original paint color.
