Just curious what your motovation was for adding the vacuum pump? Horsepower, moisture problems or other. I've been thinking about adding one since I'm running E85. Although I might go after weight savings first.

Not sure if you knew, but NAPA offers a discount on parts for your Race Car if you register it with them. It's their best discount, although parts are sold with no warrenty.

I am running the low tension oil rings, and it is building up pressure in the crankcase, causing it to push the pan gasket out. I had the crank evac setup, but it wasn't enough. Plus, it should pick up some horsepower, some say upwards of 40, but 12 to 18 is the norm. I got mine a piece at a time off feebay, or some other board similar to this. A new set up runs around $850 without the valve covers, Mine is mostly new, the pump just has about 10 dyno runs on it. I have about $450 in mine with the covers, including new gaskets and the belt. :D

A friend of mine picked up 16 hp with his sytem although that was on a ford. He was running methanol and said it really cleaned up the oil.

A friend of mine runs a vac. pump on his dragster that runs on methanol. Not for sure but I think it is a must when running methanol??

I finally took the time out from my unholy busy schedule today (actually went to the pull a part nearby, so I killed 2 birds with one stone) and got some fresh fuel for mytmouz. I emptied the old fuel that went sour and filled her up, and hit the key. MAN, I forgot how sweet she sounds. I checked for leaks, checked the tranny fluid level, and then went through the gears, (the rear is up on stands) to see if the tranny was good. (I haven't tried it since the rebuild). The new vacuum setup pulls -10.5 hg, so that's good. It was running so good I hated to shut it off, but I had to before the neighbors got pissed. Unfortunately, I have a backfeed issue with the new 1 wire mini alternator, so it wouldn't shut off. I cut the pump off and let her run dry. So, all I lack now is to figure out the alt. issue and rebleed the brakes after the new master/linr loc install. And she is good to go. My work schedule is rotating around to weekends off, so in about 3 weeks, I'm hoping for good weather...

Run the Heavy wire from the Alt. to the battery + terminal (or the live side of your disconnect switch). NHRA allows the charging wire to bypass the master cutoff switch as long as all electrical function are interupted, which they should. Or you can get a double pole master cutoff switch.

Yes. It seems the alt. is backfeeding one of these mystery wires. I will look at it on my next off period...

Well, it blew through, no rain at the track 30 minutes away. So I got in 3 passes. First pass, no burnout as I couldn't get the line-loc to hold. Second pass was a turd as the carb gassed the plugs. (Sitting mostly for 2 years, not the carbs fault...) Third one was the charm. Launched hard and straight on motor. Couldn't get stopped before the return road, which has NEVER happened on motor before. Get to the time shack, the computer malfunctioned, so no timeslip... :smt013 That was my last pass as there was something bumping underneath as I drove back down the return road. It was late, so I called it a night. All in all, better than I expected, nothing broke. That I know of, unless the mystery noise turns out to be something. I do know my archrival was parked next to me, and after that third pass, he looked in my truck and didn't see a bottle in it when I returned. The noise I heard about a little grudge earlier run got VERY quiet...
