k you aply it straight to the metal let sit for about 20-30 min then sand till you are satisfied make sure you do thin coats and build it up...dont just glob it on it will crack and fall out eventually spend lots of time sanding then paint make sure you put hardener in your bondo or it will take days to harden

Apply the bondo to bare metal and make sure the area is really clean and rust free, any tiny bit of oxidation will bubble through after time. I have a couple of spots on my bed the body guy didn't do a thourough job on and the paint is bubbleing underneath. Also remeber, the less you have to bondo, depth and size of area, the better it will be.

the 'cheese grader" bondo tool is an elbow saver. If you apply the bondo too thick, wait till it gets firm but not set (rock hard) and run the grader over it a few times. this will take down all the high spots and save a TON of sanding. I also learned that if you dont get it Perfect the first time, dont stress, another thin coat may help. Also you can have a lot of small pits from air bubbles in the bondo even when you sand it smooth. there is a product that is like "paint primer in a tube" (forget the name) it fills these in and sands really easy for a final finish.
