I contacted six different comapnies trying to get reproduction shifter boots made for both the 2wd and 4wd trucks. 4 companies were not interested and MSP Seals, Inc. said it would cost about 4k in startup costs and but around 5 dollars each once production started but they would need some greater detail and some assurance of funding before making a solid quote. The last company I contacted was Metro Moulded Parts and I talked to the New Projects Manager. He explained that there really is not a documented demand for these items or any items for the LUV. He also said that it would help a lot to have someone split development costs. If someone would do that, they would be a lot more willing to take this project on. His suggestion to me was to have everyone who might need one either contact their reps at car shows and events, post an inquiry on thier website and things of that nature. With my inquiry he had 3 in the last 2 years and he said he would need a lot more.. like around 80-100. Anyways, just thought I'd update folks on this...

Well thanks for your research anyway.
But I bet it would be hard to get 50 people here to commit to it. It sounds like the price would just be to high. I would think about $20 or $30 would be fair, but I understand the costs on their end, for so few items, it's not like getting an order from GM to make 500,000 of them, would drive the price much higher.

The one I got from E Bay already tore about a month ago. It was nice while it was there though.
