Well I got the luv going, and drove it to work for the first time tonight 8) Everything seems to be runnin pretty smooth. I havnt taken it over probably 50mph yet. Damn it is hard not to romp on it  But anyway, I will try to get some pics of the finished product soon. Thanks to all that have helped along my little journey. Pretty sure there will still be question

So I have heard several diffrent answers to this question, but I would like to hear it from you guys. How many miles do you put on a freshly rebuilt motor to call it broke in? 500, 1000, 2000?????

500 miles seems to be the norm. But 90% of motor break in happens within the first hour of running. Regardless of this it's best to go at least 500 miles and stay on top of everything (oil leaks, air leaks, water leaks, check for loose nuts and bolts, carb and timing adjustments).
It's too tempting to see what she can do and i dont think anyone will condem you for gunning it to get a taste of what you have. But dont over do it cause it would be a shame to have something go terribly wrong.

What gears does your 8" axle have in it?

There should be a tag on one of the nuts at the pumpkin that has the factory numbers of it. Unless it was removed previously.

So check it out. I had drove the luv for 3 days, about 40 miles worth or so, and on the 4th day it didnt want to start. So after pullin my hair for hours and what not, I got a hold of a guy that did the machine work on my block. Long story short, some how my dist. was 180 out. How in the hell did that happen??? I didnt have the dist. completely tight, but I wouldnt think it could jump like that.

Took my wife out to the country to do a little smoke show, and sure enough, somebody called the cops on us. Was on my way home and got pulled over. The cops is lookin at my truck and tells me "got a report of a little primer gray truck doin burn outs" keep in mind I have my hood off, and my bugcatcher breather sticken out. so its lookin pretty tough, anyway he was kinda cool, and says " so it wasnt you right?" and shakes his head no, so of course I say " nope not me" and he said "okay have a nice day" knowing it was me. So no ticket, thank god, and I had about 3 beers in me also. Figures 1st time I do a smoke show I get nailed by the cops.

Man! Take that as a blessing. It's rare to run in to a cop that will play it cool like that. He might not let you slide next time (and there WILL be a next time).

Maybe just a little. That can be fixed by first shortening the spacer at the adjustment bolt. All new setups need a little massaging to smooth things out.

I need to fix it soon, cuz if I break the belt, the pulley is so close to the radiator, I will have to pull the radiator to replace the belt. Guess that was another thing I should of planned a little better :?
