bcg187! yeah totally keep an eye out for a grille!

oh it's so fun to drive, I love it! I thought manual steering was going to kill me, but it's not that bad at all! and everyone stares like, "what in the...?!" it's great. one guy who jumped me lives in my neighborhood I guess and said he heard it last night when I was driving around, and looked for a car or truck, and then saw a luv, and was like, "no way!!!" haha! he thought it was cool.

yeah I really like the look of the air cleaner sticking out, but I'm gonna have to change that 'cause living in Washington, it's bound to rain and I don't wanna ruin the engine.

There's some sort of charing problem though, I had to ask a few people for jumps today at the gas station and work, but they all didn't mind, they got to admire the truck, lol. They were like, "is that a luv!? with a 350!?" it was great.

I think I need to get a new alternator, the one I've got now is for a regular luv engine. Hopefully that'll cure the charging problem.

next weekend we're going to change the alternator and attempt to fix the spedometer. fun fun

well if you can't tell from my post I"ve got a grin from ear to ear, I love my truck. even my neighbors came out to admire it, and they normally keep to themselves. :D :D :D

You wrote " one guy who jumped me lives in my neighborhood" I was like WTF??? Then read on about the charging problems. 8O 8O

ok I thought I was the only one who noticed that, I realized it after I posted it and was too lazy to go back and change it.

I just had so many thoughts going on in my head at once, I was just so excited about the luv! haha!

lol ANYWAYS thanks for pointing it out to the world!!! lol j/k!

ctmandu,
whats yours look like ??

mine has a bow look to it. jess, i think the one they have has the tubes straight across (no bow). i think someone made mine custom. all the ones i've seen haven't had that bow in them. 90 is kinda pricey. you could make your own with half that. all you need is 4 or 5 tubes and 2 bars that you could solder the tubes to.

Mine is original 70's ,bow in the center and one bow at the end ,fallows hood line. Those are the best fit (original mounts) and looking I have seen the straight back in the day but that was uncommon. Call them and see how many bows are in the grill. Or maybe someone will find one for you or keep looking on e-bay

I want a pretty grille, but it's not really high on my list right now. lol. someday. would it be too tacky to just spray paint the one I've got now?

anyone got ideas about the interior? like the headliner and door panels are brown and tan, soooooo.....yeah. I think I know how to do the door panels, just pop those off and put some fabric over them, but what about the headliner? A friend of mine said I could get special spray paint for it, would that be hard to do?! I want it black. or would it be easier to just take out the headliner completely? (maybe it's painted underneath?)

so we figured out that the tailight wiring was draining the battery tons, so that's going to get fixed tomorrow, but somehow the battery is still being drained a little bit, like it won't charge. hmmm. gotta look into it more, it was getting too dark tonight.

drove it around some, got a few stares. the people who stare the most seem to be s-10 guys. just an observation.

i painted my old one and it came out looking pretty good. even painted the bowtie too. 8)

i suggest not to pull it out. i just yanked mine and its wrapped around the windsheild seal and the rear window seal. just to get it to fit right again you'd have to pull the windows :( if you don't mind getting paint all over you, i'd just mask everything off and spray paint it :D

i know what you mean about the color. mines was red with tan panels. all i did was paint the panels black and it made the interior look completely different. do you still have the stock steering wheel ? that could make a difference too. if you want to put a different fabric on the panels it would be easy as pie :D

If you go to the parts store and get plastic trim paint and spray it, it'll come out good. Make sure to get a can of spray cleaner from the paint section as well, or it won't adhere very well. Here's my old truck...

thanks for the replies!

I bought some spray paint, and I'm going to attempt to paint the headliner and grille tomorrow. And I got some seat covers today, they're black and grey, not bad looking. I'm gonna get some fabric, too, and do the door panels, at least as a fix for now, the look of the brown and tan is really hurting the luv appeal. anyone got any black seatbelts? I also need a new ashtray, it's chipped off on one corner.

and the charging problem? it wasn't even the tailights, like we thought! it was just the battery! it was so fried, and we put a new one in, and now it works like a charm. weird.

my b/f's dad says we can make our own hood scoop that latches on, so that when it's nice, I can take it off so the air cleaner still pops through the hood, and when it's rainy, put it on to protect the engine.

going to a "car show" tomorrow. I say "car show" 'cause it's not really, it's just an informal weekly gathering of car and truck people at a local Burger King. I'm kind of excited to see what people's reactions will be.

ok and I'm out :D

well I think you all will enjoy seeing the work my b/f and I did on my luv today!

I taped off the entire interior, then my b/f painted it black with vinyl paint. Then we used batting and vinyl to redo the door panels. He painted the arm rests black, they look brand new now! He also painted the visors. oh and I wanted the Chevy symbol pink, so he painted that, too. oh and yesterday we bought seat covers, as you can see in the pics! I think it looks awesome, it's SUCH an improvement, it looks soooooo great!!!!!
