My truck used to backfire really bad when I just had flowmaster on a stock engine on a stock header. The anti-pollution stuff under the hoodf made it pop really bad. One time I was going down the road and the lady in front of me turned her blinker on at the last minute and made a dead stop to turn. Well, I was barreling down the road trying to accelerate nicely, I was in third and going onto fourth when I had to pop it into neutral and slam on the brakes. Well after putting it into neutral (since I refuse to downshift) the air tube running into the stock header didn't want the extra gas hanging around so it sparked it up, resulting in a tremendous flame shooting out the tailpipe and making the sound of a 12 gauge going off next to my window. So the lady completely stopped now, just about jumps through the roof of her car, rolls down her window and stares at me with a look on her face like WTF. So I did what any normal person that is completely out of their mind embarrassed, I looked to the car behind me like it was him makin the racket  . poor bastard.

Back when my truck was totaly stock, after driving the truck somewhere i would shut off the engine, get out, walk about 20-30 ft away and the truck would backfire. I never understood why this would happen. It would do this almost all the time. After installing a weber carb, the problem disapeared.

Blue I would have paid money to get my luv to do that when it had the 4 banger in it back then.....

one of my buddies had a 80' camaro with the 4.3. when he would run it up in first gear and let let off the gas the engine would be winding down and it would backfire really loud. One day a guy was walking down the side of the road and my bud runs it up and is letting it wind down. AS SOON AS we got next to the dude BOOOOOM!!!!!!!! this dude jumped into the ditch....he must have thought he was shot or something.....it was HILARIOUS!!!!!!

OK, my parents had a Blue datsun 610 wagon that could be driven to lug the motor, like 3rd gear doin 25mph, and we would floor it. the longer you did it, the bigger tha Bang! It would take about three seconds. We could time it to scare the CRAP out of anyone. My demented buddies always wanted to do it to old people, but I can honestly say I never did. It would suck to give an old timer a heart attack for a stupid joke.

Couple of years later it happened to me. these kids blasted one right next to me. Whatever. they were laughing, just like I used to. Turnabout is fair play. I had to laugh about it, even though my kids were freaked.

:silly:

My dad told me that back in the day he and my uncle used to have a car that they could make backfire really loud and one day they did it to a old man who was always walking around town piss drunk. He said the guy grabbed his chest and collapsed backwards. Then my dad and uncle went over to check him out and the guy was laughing and said that they got him good. Kinda makes me wish that they would still let old drunks walk around town for a little while
