the U-joints are at the front and rear of the driveshaft. it connects the driveshaft with the diffriential and transmission. they allow the driveshaft to operate at different angles.
make sure the bolts are tight that connect the driveshaft to the rear end.....it makes an awful racket when the driveshaft slings off of it....I found that out when I was 16.

if it is rubbing something just beat it out of the way or put a pry bar and make some clearance.....hehe
oh and check the clearance between the output shaft on the tranny and the driveshaft. your driveshaft might be too long, but I doubt it if it is stock length.

I had the same problem with mine I had the weirdest scraaping noise coming from under it. Come to find out it was the parking brake cable so you might wanna check it to make sure you have clearance between those as well. Just my two pennies in the pot. Hope it's something that simple for you. :D

if you are lifting your front end(by jacking it up).lower it a little bit.i had the same problem with mine.crawl up under you truck to check your threads.i highly doubt there stripped.there pretty thick.if that doesn't work raise the truck.i completly freaked when mine wouldn't go down.just play with them for a while and they should work.
