Man they really do look great on the truck. I can't believe what a set of rims and tires can do. Great choice.

They look good. What a difference just a wheel can make, eh?

I don't think much of the big wheel short tire combo because most of the time they just don't look good but in this case the look OUTSTANDING it just go to show it's not the tire -wheel combo. it's the whole package that makes the difference.Good job there Farmer Joe .

yeah, i can get ya one!

did a little fixin up on the truck this last week.

its been kinda rainy around here, so i noticed that one of the deals that holds the wiper shaft in place was broken. the wiper kinda just flopped around. so i get that fixed, and now the wipers work properly, AND theres no more leak into the cab that always went on my shoe when i was driving!! (arent run-on sentences cool?!? lol)

i also cleaned up the interior a little. i got a new glove box hopper, and put the door and all that stuff back on. so now i got a working glove box. i also found all the vent covers, and put them back on. so the dash is kinda getting there.

and now for the update that has me in a good mood!

i pinstriped the hood! and it turned out okay!!

yeah, i havnt pinstriped in almost a year, so its kinda crappy, and im a bit rusty, but i still have the hang of it.

heres a pic...

Image

ive got 2 shows that im gonna try and show it in, so ive been trying to clean it up a bit.

im gonna give it a good washing tomorrow after work, so ill get some new pics of the whole thing.

here ya go man! sorry it took a week. ive been busy.

Image

i have some good and some bad news about the luv.

the bad news is the timing cover is cracked. check it out...

Image

thats why its been leakin oil so bad. i though it was the front seal, but it aint.

the good news is, its getting a fresh motor in it in 2 weeks.

heres the story on that.

i was going to rebuild the g200 for the pup, but i have recently come across a 2.3 and a 5 speed for it for cheap. that and i want a bigger motor in the pup with a 5 speed so i can actually drive it without it being under powered in 5th.

so this week and next week im going to rebuild the g200, and then saturday the 12th im going to pull the g180 out and put the g200 in. i plan on pullin it after i get off work, having the g200 back in by like midnight. the sunday ill start it, break it in, and drive it all day if it drives. then ill drive it to work on monday morning.

so if all goes as planned, the luv will be sporting a fresh g200.

well i kinda flaked out on myself on the engine build this week. the truck hasnt been leakin nearly as bad as it did, so im just gonna leave it. ill re-adjust the valves and re-torque the head and call it good.

i have done a couple improvements this week though. i finally put the new brake pads in that i bought 2 weeks ago. i also put a new set of shocks in the front, and greased the frontend. on top of that i also bled the front brakes. needless to say, they work great now.

the truck also got a new radiator last weekend. i had been having an overheating problem, and it finally got really bad. come to find out, the weld holding the filler neck to the radiator had rotted out or something, and the system wouldn't build pressure. hence my overheating problem. so now it has a new used radiator, and it wont even get the needle past the halfway mark on the temp guage.

so yeah. ive been workin on this thing quite alot in the last 2 weeks. tommorow i plan on finishing out the exhaust so that it exits out the driver side behind the rear tire. then i gonna put the flame-thrower system on it and shoot me some flames!

if i have that together tommorow night, ill take some pics.

well its been a while since ive updated this thread, so here i go.

alot has happend in the while i havnt been on here. the truck has gotten a new motor and a new passenger spindle and rotor.

the reason for the new engine is, last monday on the way home from work, the stock bottom end finally chunked a rod after 30 years of life. so i thrashed mondya night and all day tuesday putting a new motor in it so i could go to work on wednesday.

so now its got a 1980 g180 in it from my parts luv i bought. it runs good and has alot more power than the other engine did.

i do have a question though for the guys that know about the g series engines.

how is my engine running with a firing order of 1 2 4 3?

it would not run with the firing order one 1 3 4 2, so i started switching wires and swapped 2 and 3 and it ran. how does that work?

now on to the new spindle and hub.

i ended up with the inner ring on the outer wheel bearing welded to the spindle. i had to chisle that inner ring from the bearing off with an air hammer. the sincle had gotten so hot that it had heat coloring.

so i had to get a new spindle and rotor. picked up a spindle, rotor, and a brake caliper at the junkyard for 25 bux and slapped that sucker on there.

so all is good now. hopefully. im gonna repack the front wheel bearing on monday, and then im done doin stuff to this damn truck.

then im gonna get the pup runnin again!

Hmmm...

It kinda sounds like your cap might be one wire off...did you try putting them all in the correct order and turning the distributor far enough to get the rotor aimed at #1 at the #1 piston's top dead center during it's compression stroke?

It could be off one wire either way...but my poor old tired brain just can't seem to figure it out right now.

Other than that, I haven't a clue why it's running OK with the firing order wrong on the cap - but something definitely isn't right.

(Unless you have a one-of-a-kind engine with it's very own personal firing order....lol)

Look at your firing order that you put in the post
you say it runs 1243 should be 1342 it just backwards. the dizzy is going counter clock wise and you were trying to wire it clockwise. I'm sure all is good.
