Do you have a stock engine?

You'll most likely have to get your radiator re-cored. A single core radiator cant handle the job. The way it is now, coolant is running too fast through the radiator. It's not in the radiator long enough for the fan to scrub away the heat. If you double your core size, the flow of coolant will slow down by half. Which means you'll have twice as much coolant volume that can be cooled at any time and basicly it will stay twice as long in the radiator for the fan to do its job. For a 350, the best thing to do is go with a 4 core radiator or a an aftermarket 2 core aluminum( its the same as a 4 core). Running an electric fan is a good move. I had my share of radiator problems and i can tell you right now, DONT CUT CORNERS! Get a big radiator and an electric fan together under the hood and be done with it!

I would agree, the 350 in as small a space as the engine bay of a luv will get alot of heat build up. Something else you could do is get a cowl hood for your luv. These will alow alot of air flow from front to back and basicly make you engine bay a mini wind tunel (if they are just wide open to the back) this would make you motor run nice and cool.

Chris, welcome.

I have a 350, and will be installing my fourth radiatior in a few weeks. if you have a lot of aluminum parts, and this includes ANYTHING aluminum, all it does is suck heat right out of the block, and vwahla, at the outer area of the block is the coolant running through picking up all the heat. this heat jumps right into the coolant, and your radiatior had better be ready for the extra load.

I will definately go aluminum. I have the electric fan, and a mechanical fan, and I still run 195+. I suppose a GOOD standard type radiatior would do, but ive heard great things about aluminum.

also, i had a radiator rodded out and they told me that it probably wasnt a big enough radiator to begin with. i was bent on the cheap fix. I tried, I cried. that was #2.

a buddy has a nova and can cool his block fine with the stock v-6 core. same set up as me. (well, almost. something makes his crap painfully slower than mine ) just joking KIRK!

Also if you haven't already, remove the engine well rubber skirting. The skirting hinders air flow out of the engine compartment. The fan cant cool the engine if the hot air is trapped under the hood. My hood was hot to the touch until i got rid of the skirting.

Some days ago someone asked whether or not to modify their inner fenders. I didnt think about it, but it makes sense to at least get rid of the skirts to let hot air escape. Good info. Bryan

If you need more advise, try the "search" feature. I know there is at least on other post about this from awhile back.
