to put in a 350 with trans do i have to resses the fire wall and open up the tranny tunnel if the motors gonna be pretty much stock? i have acess to 1 that runs for a 100 bucks. and i really want to do it i just want toknow what i am getting myself into before i do it. i am gonna get a dana 20 remote transfer case to go along with it but will my rear end hold up to the power. i think it should cause its a stock motor. but n e helpo with my 350 swap would be greatly appreciated. oh ya if u guys have ur plans for motor mounts and tranny mounts that u could scan and send me i will be very much so happy. thanx

My 2 cents. I know for a fact that it can be done. With a little "massaging" of the firewall. the tranny should be fine. where my cutout works great is when install or remove those bellhousing bolts, or have to mess with the distributor. It makes a nice little receess area to run wires in under the dash, since that is where my ignition box is. If I had to do it over, i would cut it out for these reasons. and my tranny dipstick comes right up through there. It was a little extra work.

Id wait and get some feedback from someone who hasnt cut it out.

well one way to get around that may be to install a body lift. It will probly get everything out of your way. But my thinking is if your going to do it take the time and do it right the first time.

my 2 wheel drive has a 2" body lift in it.i didn`t have to touch the fiewall, but i also run a small cap distributor msd. if i was running an hei i would have had to modify the firewall behind the dist. later terry

I'm a 2wheeldrive also but the only cutting i did was opening up the trans tunnel about an inch higher. as for the distributor area, i didn't touch anything and i run a HEI. I didn't have any probs dropping the distributor down in.

as for the rear end...it depends on your tires. From what i've read on here, if you run stock size tires you'll probably be ok, but if u decide to stick some good size meat under it, it'll more than likely break. I'm running my stock rear until it breaks or i get a 9".

All I had to do was massage the trans tunnel a little. You have to bend over the lip where the firewall and trans tunnel meet, and you have to tag a few low spots in the trans tunnel.
