Many of you may know this. but all the guys upgrading parts- if you buy aluminum stuff like heads, valve covers, intake, it will tarnish with oil and gas almost immediately if you get it on it. If you want them to look better longer, buy some high temp clear finish at the auto store. put on a few coats and let it dry. Nothing worse on a new valve cover than an oily finger print. If you dont let it dry, youll get the finger print anyway. Ive spilt gas, oil, anti freeze all over my intake and it looks like new.

You may not want a "pretty" engine, a little oil looks like youve actually drove your car. but after throwing 1500- 2000 bucks into external bolt on parts, its nice to have a little flash longer than usual.

One other tip. There is a product called "hammerite". It is a thick, two tone paint that goes on heavy. It comes in a medium grey and black that I know of. this stuff is awesome for detailing an engine compartment. i used the mediem grey. It will go over anything. If you scratch or have to repaint, the nature of the paint makes it easy to match. It will serve you and your truck well amidst all the oil and crap.!
